You pissing me off is like the "99c Only" store cashier giving me incorrect change.

Troll on superstar! :)
TrueTone500....you're back!!!! We missed ya...
Yes, the 'Luthier' I mentioned that did the work builds his own acoustics at 5K a pop so pretty sure my term works no???
How is that Blades Firebolt working out for ya???

C'mon Jay Coop. Please don't drink and take your meds. You're ok then.

I don't have any experience routing my guitar for a pick up but I did a job on a squire start to put in a Floyd Rose. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about the hole thing but like another poster said, if you get the right measurements and if you take your time you'll be okay. It's not bad in the end, just measure twice and cut once.

I actually had a Carvin all Mahogany NT that my dad routed a humbucker from a single coil route and it turned out good, but I would take it to a "Luthier". oh sorry I did not use the term correctly a guitar tech/repairman!!
Guitar builder, not tech, you peckerwood

Thanks for the clarification!! But of course you know it all!! Luthiers are not just guitar builders, they also can repair guitars. Even just guitar repairers can route out guitars provided they have a router and are trained and experienced at it. It doesn't have to be a guitar builder!! I had it done before on my SoCal trem cavity by a guitar repairman that was experienced at routing guitars and he was not a builder.

I agree the term luthier is way over used for simple guitar tech duties. ;)
A Lute is a Lute, a Guitar is a Guitar.

To the OP - as I stated earlier, if you want an invasive procedure as routing out a neck pickup cavity, I strongly suggest hunting down a GUITAR BUILDER/REPAIR person to do it.

Wow, are experienced in being a dick? I guess you're too good and full of yourself to actually look up the word or read the link to the definition of the word luthier. Guess what Sherlock, it doesnt mention the word LUTE.

Worked fine but he had a luthier do it.
With all respect, when's the last time that you saw or laid your hands on a acoustic "Lute"? My guess is probably never.

For the record, a "Luthier" is a person who builds and repairs acoustic Lutes. A guitar builder is a person who builds and repairs guitars; a guitar is not a Lute and the construction of a acoustic Lute is far more complex than the construction of a typical dreadnaught guitar that we commonly see and play.

So my point is the word or term "Luthier" is thrown around like the word or term "Engineer". The is specific training and specific education that is required to be one or the other is vastly different.

Luthier != Guitar Builder

Enjoy your "guitars"!

Etymology, look it up. Then check Webster for Luthier.

I think Top.Echelon is confusing the origin of the word "luthier" with the definition.
