Running a 4x12 and a 2x12 Cab together?

So I have a 2x12 cab that I am going to be putting 75W Eminence Red Coat Governors in wired at 16 ohm Mono. My 4x12 cab also has 75W speakers wired at 16 ohm mono. Can I run these two cabs together from my 100W head via each 8 ohm inputs without a power distribution problem? Will I overload the 2x12? Has anyone else done this and can give an opinion or advice? Any help would be great. Thanks!!!

2x16ohm cabs = 8ohm load  6x75Watt speakers = 450watts with a 100watt head

Do you like Eddie Van Halen or Eddie Vedder?

Yup, you'll be fine. I think the 2x12 might end up louder, though (assuming the speaker efficiencies are all the same-ish).

Eh, to be picky, not exactly. You have a 150W load in parallel with a 300W load of the same impedance, your actual power handling is determined by the 150W load, and is actually 300W total before you start overloading the 2x12 (still plenty).

I was kinda thinking the same thing. If that's the case, I wouldn't mind it. Eventually I'm gonna replace the speakers in my 4x12 also. Not sure with what yet though....

No one has mentioned parallel vs series which is important and changes things as well.

I'm thinking the 4x12 is wired Series/Parallel and the 2x12 will be wired Series. What will this change when stacked together?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'd like to better understand this. Could you suggest a book or some point for reference?
