Is there any smart way how to hook up a "Live" and a "Cab" so you get two mono signals where you can use different IRs/Mics for true stereo spread?

If you are using the line input on the Live, just use a Y cable from your dist/preamp.
If you need a load for a head,
1) use an external loadbox
2) if you are recording, the digital out has the dry signal (no speaker emulation) on one side. You can then take this track, once recorded and run it either through 2 Torpedos, the true stereo WOSIII plug in or record multiple passes through a single Torpedo
3) use a third party d/a and take the Live's spdif out back into the cab, an old dat player is one option, as are some inexpensive interfaces for gamers/appleTV etc that can be found on ebay.

Another option I just thought of was to use another "Live" and connect the two 8 Ohm loads to the 16 Ohm out of the amp. Bit expensive but still cool. Or get a VB101 instead ...

a few things to note, the vb is a dual processor but is not stereo (with the exception of the spacial post effect). It does feature 2 blendable speaker processes but they are mixed to mono. The VB does off 2 ways to record a dry signal for processing later....either via the dedicated dry out or using either digital out with the signal either assigned dry or with emulation bypassed.
If you choose to connect 2 lives to 16 ohms, you would need a serial connection. Alternately, you could connect the thru of the first unit into the speaker in of the second unit and operate the amp at 8 ohms. Each Torpedo is a virtual speaker so 2 8 ohms Lives in parallel would require your amp set to 4 ohms just as if you had 2 8 ohms cabinets.
