I thought I'd introduce you guys to the musicians that do these backing tracks.

I used a $135 Kodak HD Playtouch cam and iMovie11. My poor 4 yr old MacBook Pro got a little weary keeping up in 1080p, I had to do half then export it and start again with that file to be able to complete the project, so there are a few uncool edits and sync issues.

Roy can sing more than Journey, Don makes up the rest of the amazing rhythm section.
I'm a lucky guy to play with these talented musicians. They are huge Rush fans, me...well not so much so the solo style is totally out of my comfort zone.....and WAY less gain..lol.

Hope you guys enjoy this...Spirit Of The Radio is on deck.

You all did a great job and obviously have a lot of fun. As a huge Rush fan myself I will say that it is very difficult to cover them but your singer/drummer did a good job of being in Geddys ballpark vocally. The bass player is good and you played well although I can tell you are not completely locked into Lifesons style. The Spirit Of Radio should be interesting for sure.
Rush is one of those totally unique bands that i hold in the highest esteem. Total pros, no ego-trips,and can play circles around most bands.
I am seeing them in Fort Lauderdale Florida on the 30th of this month.

never been a much of a huge rush fan but that that was a joy watching .... love the chunk chunk tone ....

You guys did great! Your drummer did a great job! I remember when that song came out, my friend I used to jam with would to try so hard to do the little drum solo and couldn't get close

Great cover. My band covers this one but the drummer hates to do it. Good job. Were all of the keyboards just tracks or did someone play those?

Fantastic job!

How do you have the Axe FX set up to record with the Apogee Duet?

Do you have the Duet set for line level +4 or -10?

Thanks Barney, -10 :)

Looks like you guys had a blast.

Great cover, gotta' love Rush

Excellent job!

I have to say just about every time I have my AxeFx gas under control, your videos crank it right back up again.

Great job. I am a big Rush fan. Everybody did an outstanding job. The keyboard sound was the most impressive. I say this because most tributes bands or copies you hear or see fall short on the keys. You guys had that nailed.

Great job! It's cool you have such great musicians to help you make such cool backing tracks to play over. Good backing tracks are hard to find out there in the interwebz.

Mark, that was killer!! I must say your air-keyboard chops are amazing
Really cool to have a rhythm section that is at that level, you guys nailed it
Dam that ax fx :D

Mark, that was awesome!! Everyone NAILED that song, and not to say anyone did better than the other, but getting into the "realm of Geddy" ain't the easiest - props to your singer. The bass lines were right there too!! And the drummer, chillaxed and well timed... AWESOME cover!! Flawless.

Thanks for the post - more Ultra Love!!
Mo

Awesome job Mark! Love Rush, love your band. Great solo. That solo is tougher than it sounds (the timing is really different with Lifeson's start and stops). Great clip!

your vids are always entertaining and feature great playing and tone.com
