Not happy with my HOF lately. Time to upgrade. Trying to see how these three compare. I know the Ventris hasn't been out that long. Thoughts?

I bought the Big Sky and it's by far the best reverb I've ever had. So many options!!

Im going to go out on a limb and say that sound-wise, the Ventris will be the new reverb to beat for some time. Clips sound fantastic so far. The BS is an amazing verb. Totally holds up today and is layed out perfectly but the Ventris' power, dual dsp, true spring and just the time and dedication they've put in over the past year will be noticeable.

Yeah between the Nemesis and now the Ventris, Source Audio is knocking it out of the park.

For sure! If the Nemesis had analog dry through like the Ventris I'd have a hard time not buying them both. Honestly, I don't think that should be a make or break option in choosing a delay or verb but I tried my Dig next to an Eventide Timefactor and I swear I could tell a difference between analog dry and converted digital. Maybe a slight difference in feel.

I just bought a Blue Sky, but before that I had the flint. I've also spent some time with the Boss RV-500. First of all, the Blue Sky is about all the reverb I'll ever need. It sounds stellar through the FX loop though can be a bit tricky to dial in at times. I wish I had the Big Sky because it has that extra flexibility to dial in just the right reverb. However, the rest of the fancy options are overkill for me. The sound is good. The Flint actually has one reverb, the 70's reverb, which I really like a lot. It has a great sound, a plunky attack, and just a really good reverb all around. That being said, I needed just a little more flexibility so I exchanged it for the Blue Sky.

The RV-500 is really, really good. I have a Strymon Timeline and Mobius by the way. I've compared the Timeline to the DD-500 before and thought about selling my Timeline for a DD500 because not only did I like most of the delays, it was a little easier dialing in different delays and it sounded better through the amp input. The Strymon stuff only sounds good through the FX loop for the most part. Anyway, the RV-500 is spectacular. There is a lot of configuration options, but it's not overwhelming for the most part. I like the RV-500 with distortion sounds and clean sounds alike. My Blues Sky loves clean tones, but is hard to get just right for distorted tones. Other than that, I still like the Blue Sky spring reverb better than the spring reverb on the RV-500 just a little bit more.

I have watched countless videos and read dozens of reviews of the BOSS stuff. When all the DD-500 vs Timeline videos hit Youtube a couple of years ago, i couldn't make out anything the critics were saying. I think it's mostly just brand loyalty because I thought the DD500 was every bit as good. If you can afford the Big Sky, it's worth it -- infinite reverb sounds. If you get the Blues Sky, you won't be disappointed. If you get the RV-500, you will love it. They're all very, very good.

Don't overlook the Empress Reverb. I have one and its great, does ambient very well, but excels are realistic sounding verbs. I also really like the Boss RV-6, so I bet the RV-500 is a great pedal.

Thanks for the input.

I was leaning towards the Ventris before starting this thread as I already have a nemesis and am overall happy with it. My only complaint is the navigation and that you really have easy access to four presets without a midi controller. That being said I have it being recalled via Midi but I wish it where a little easier to recall presets as a stand alone. Just a little easier to improvise with.

I think for me the stymon is out. Nothing I've heard seemed to wow me.

My go to reverb sound is a "Drip" spring. I have a surf rider III and it's probably my overall favorite but it lives on another board. I can't use it with this setup as I'm running into a parallel fx loop so I need 100% kill dry which the Boss and Source Audio easily do.
