The Kirk Hammet comes loaded with "custom" G12-H100 100w speakers. The original Celestion G12H-100 speakers were discontinued, and replaced by the China-made G12K-100's. The G12K's have gotten mixed reviews here and elsewhere...but the original G12H-100's were loved by many. I can't find ANYTHING on these "custom" G12-H100 speakers. I'm hoping they are a step above the G12K's, and I guess what I'm hoping is that they would come close to the original G12H-100's that everyone seemed to love. What I'd really like to know is if these are the SAME G12H100 speakers that come loaded in the RV412S-100 and RV412A-100 cabs??? I hate these stupid listings...the description on MF says "G12T" and then "G12H" right underneath. The Randall catalog states "G12-H100" for the RV412-100 cabs, but I'm wondering if these are any different than the "custom" G12-H100's found in the Hammet cab, and if either are actually different in any way than the regular Celestion G12K-100's that are currently available. The Kirk Hammet cab has the "mic eliminator" feature also, which I'm not sure if the others have, and which I've heard is pretty cool.
The Celestion Vintage 30's are tried and true, and even though they are also now China-made, they still have a strong following for classic full-bodied tones.

I feel like I couldn't go wrong with selecting the Vintage 30's, but I am really curious to know if the G12-H100's in the Hammet got anywhere close to the original G12H-100's. Either cab will be powered by a Randall RM100 head. I kinda like the idea of the Kirk Hammet, as I could later add a second cab on top loaded with V30's to have a nicely rounded full stack, with boomy lows, meaty mids, and crispy highs, but wonder if that would be too much speaker for the head. I also like the idea of having the G12-H100's to experiment with later, by maybe picking up a pair of Seventy80's (cheap, I know) or Heritage Series G12H(75)'s to throw in an X pattern. The V30's are available easily. The original G12H-100's can still be found sometimes, but these G12-H100's are only available in a couple Randall cabs from what I've found so far (and the price is right).
My impression is that the Hammet cab was designed more for a high-power solid-state amp, so I'm wondering if the 400W RMS power rating would be too high for a 100w tube amp to get good tones out of, and if the 240w RMS rated V30's would be a better balanced set. Of course, a 100w head should have no problems powering two cabs loaded with V30's (which would be 480w RMS) so I also don't see the higher power rating on the Hammet being too much of a problem. A lot of folks say the G12K-100s lack middle fullness (and I tend to agree based on sound clips), and would be dissappointed to find the G12-H100's had the same problem (or were the same exact speaker). Part of me wants to think that because they're in the signature cabinet, the build quality will somehow be better than the other items made in the same factory by the same people (it's better cause it costs more!). I know that is flawed logic.
Anyway, there are some comparible speakers out there that you guys are well versed in, so if you haven't had experience with these particular ones, your oppinions would still be appreciated for anything that was close. If you know ANYTHING about these G12-H100's though, I would greatly appreciate your expertise!
