My favorite version of Sabbath. Gillan has one of the best voices ever. They hit it out of the park on Born Again IMO. Album was very underrated.Anyone else like this lineup? To bad the production was so bad.

I loved that lineup. Got to see 'em live on that tour. Quiet Riot opened, if I recall.

mmmm, I thought that was the worst Sabbath. Great voice on Gillen but not a good fit IMHO. He was meant for Purple.

was that the QR lineup with randy rhoads? (i can't recall the years when he was in the band exactly...or when gillan was in sabbath tbqh)

Not for me Black Sabbath with Ozzy is the best. Fairies wear boots, Black Sabbath, electric funeral, Hole in the sky, Hand of doom, snowblind, sweetleaf and the list goes on.

Butler, Ward, Iomi and Osbourne for me will always be the godfathers of metal. The first few albums were just as heavy and laid the ground for metal music since and to this day. Although music has gotten a little heavier and faster the same basic chemistry that those gentlemen came up with 30 something years ago is still the foundation in most heavy metal bands today.

They are easily the most influential band for my style of playing.

Sorry for the rant but thats my two cents worth...

Yep touring to support Metal Health.

Gillian was great. Best part was the HUGE binders with lyrics to all of the song. HUGE, HUGE binders. And he'd keep flipping pages during the songs.

Born Again had some heavy-ass riffs on it though. I love Zero The Hero and Disturbing The Priest.

Hell yeah, pretty heavy for 1983,and the whole album is kinda creepy sounding, really scared the crap out of me when i was a kid.

Ain't "Black Sabbath" without Ozzy.

Tell that to the other 3 members.

Dont get me wrong Black Sabbath still kicked ass but my preference and my preferance only was with Ozzy. If you have netflix check out the documentry on the first album I enjoyed the hell out of it.

There's an interview on youtube where he talks about the binders. He said he could not memorize the lyrics.

I like this Sabbath album a lot and listen to it frequently.

A couple of other Sabbath albums that are really good not counting the Ozzy/Dio ones are Seventh Star with Glenn Hughes on vocals and The Eternal Idol with Tony Martin.

Love That album. Gillan's vocals, especially on the song Born Again are amazing. Plus the opening lines of Zero The Hero are brilliant. Production is weird to say the least. Would love to hear a complete re-mix but I still dig it as it is.

The Born Again demos floating around the net sound better than the actual album.

I loved the Born Again album. Did you ever hear this song?
