I've geen listening to my old Saigon Kick cds this past week, and yes... they still rock! Bieler is a sick player!

I was messing around with playing The Lizard thursday
I always liked Jason Bieler's playing style and tone...

If I remember correctly he was using the Rivera TBR rack mount stuff back then, great tone.

Yeh when I saw them he had the Rivera stuff with just a delay pedal and one of the Boss Over drive pedals..

He used the TBR-1SL. And I wish that Rivera would still make them, because I would own a couple.

Yeh same head Skid Row used on the Slave to the Grind cd..
Another cd I like the guitar tones on..

I opened a show for them back when they were touring there first record, back in like 92, that was a great record, Matt Kramer and Phil Varone, nice guys, Jason Bieler was sorta stuckup but he is a great guitarist.

yes  the lizard cd kicks some major ass. not to hijack your thread but ive been getting into shotgun messiah latley, check them out if you never heard them.

Yeah, I dig shotgun messiah as well.

And Skid Row actually used a Rivera M100 for the Slave to the Grind disc.

I had several email conversations with Jason in the mid 90s, and he was always cool with me. I almost bought one of his TBR-1SL heads in 2000, but it fell through at the last minute.

OMG, that's so weird. On the way home from work last night I was rocking out to "The Lizard" -- hadn't listened to that record in a long time. Loved Saigon Kick back in the day -- and you're right Jason is a sick player with some great tone. He's a great song writer and producer as well.

Birch Hill? That's where i saw them.

As far as I know, Jason is running Bieler Brothers productions. Matt Kramer is still touring with this new band. Phil Veron is playing in Skid Row now. Last I heard, Jason said that he has no interest in performing again. Which is a shame. He was a MAJOR influence on my playing.

My band opened for them on the tour of their 2nd record in '92. Loved them but they used a tape for the harmonized vocals which was a bit of a bummer, not that big a deal, but still...

I still listen to the first two CDs about once a month or so... I love Saigon Kick

Water is a pretty good disc as well...little more 'all over the road' stylistically, but there are some killer guitar tones on that record. His tone on the solo during "Fields of Rape" is just perfect IMO...

BTW, I recently emailed Jason at Bieler Bros records, and he answered me right away both times...was very gracious and forthright about his tones and playing. Cool guy!

Right at this moment cover bands all over South Asia are playing 'Love is on the Way' as a part of their first set ...... its 9pm and that song is a standard around these parts. I'd never heard it before I lived here. Usually that song is bookended with 'Love Me' by Colin Ray...... :bash:
