Salt and Pepper Cab question

So I found a local Diezel Cab for sale used at a reasonable price, and was wondering,
did the salt and pepper cabs come loaded with v-30's?
were they rear loaded or front?

I am assuming rear? At least thats what I seem to find when I do searches online, that only the rear was salt and pepper? this correct? I noticed there were screws on the back of the cab, like normal, and did not see a way to pull the front of the grill off, like i have seen in some pictures.

the guy told me someone brought him a vh4 and the cab, but the vh4 sold immediately to someone else. Cab is $599.

I tried it out with an Ubershall on top and it sounded pretty good to me, but then again, it was my first time hearing an Uber, which I liked as well quite a bit. I asked the guy if i could bring my vh4 and herbert by to test the cabs out, so i have to go back later this week if i want to get it.
I am even thinking of maybe swapping cabs there...trading....something i don't normally do at stores since you always lose.
good deal or should I wait for a for sure front loaded cab with k100's and/or v30's?

When I listen to this guy's video it makes the old cabs sound muddy and indestinct, but the new ones clear and loud. Makes me wonder if this is a really good deal or not...??
 
i believe they came loaded with either the V30s or the Diezel Eminence speakers. I would have them pop the jackplate off & look inside. Diezel speakers have a black paint on the magnet. V30s are labeled.

not a bad $$ tho...

This is a rear loaded cab. They come stock with Celestion V30s. The rear loaded cab does not sound muddy or less distinct than any other cabs. Rear loaded or front loaded. The 4x12R is more flexible and IMO sounds much richer in timbre and resonance than the 4x12F.

The rear loaded Diezel cabs have the front portion of the baffle slightly angled back toward the back of the cab. The speakers are accessed from removing the rear enclosure piece.

The front loaded Diezel 4x12F do not have an angle on the front baffle; it is flush to the cab.

$600 for a Diezel 4x12X is cheap. You can rest assured that it is not a new cab like the picture you posted, or it is hot.
 
I grabbed a stock photo just so folks would know the cab I was talking about.

the cab is in a major store, so it is not hot. They probably gave the guy $200 and a Schecter guitar for the VH4 and cab.

I'm considering the cab, but I think a front loaded may more suit my tonal needs.
 
Why don't you just buy it? If you really don't like it, I'm sure you can sell it again for 600$. No loss there.

That's cool mightywarlock. I'm just pointing out that there's something suspect if someone is asking $600 for a "new" Diezel 4x12X cab.
 
well, it was used. but it certainly looks mint. I have some thinking to do i suppose.
 
I still have my old one and i must say its one of the best cabinets that ive played through yet. Its got the diezel custom eminence speakers in it. And now i have the new rear loaded... Of course i swapped out speakers about half a dozen times.
 
I had one, rear loaded, but it had V30's and the Diezel speakers in it. Great sounding cab; wish I still had it.
