Been looking into the Salvation modded MTS stuff again after giving it a rest for awhile. I am GAS'ing HARD now  Get a RM4 and a RT2/50, and run the Mash-All+, MatchVox, MarkUs, StonerVerb, and Twinface modules. Set everything up on a MIDI rig to change module/power amp side, and effects. Get my pre-sets set up too. Would be AWESOME GAS is killing me

Who all here has some of these, and what can you tell me about them? Hopefully Pete will come in here

Looking for soundclips of all the modules too, post away!

Does anyone here have the MarkUs module? Can you get the typical Mark Series high-gain sound out of it? I wasn't super impressed with the clip of it on Salvation's YT page. The Mark Series has always been some of my favorite amps.

Yeah I had one of his Custom 3 Modules when I had MTS amps....

really good stuff there.

All of his clips are great. I had a few Jaded Faith mods. His are kick ass too.

The Best one.....was from Pete....

the Modded 1086....or the "Mail Man" mod!! :D

That thing was brutal!!

I used to own the modules below along with an RM4/RT2 rig. It was an extremely versatile rig, specially with the MIDI capabilities.
The MarkUs prototype was actually made for me with Petrucci, Metallica, and Stryper tones in mind. It nailed them.

FWIW my current rig is a Fortin Cali with an AxeFX in the loop

I have to say the of my 7 modules (one being your Salvation Custom 3) - The Gigimods 1087 is my favorite tone of all. Pete does some awesome work.

  :D

Nah....I am all set amp wise... :D

This has me gassing for one of these modules, I have the standard , Treadplate, Ultra, and clean in my RM 100. Those seem like they'd be a real improvement. Either the 1087 or MarkUS.

I've had over 3 dozen different modded modules at one point or another...right now down to about 9 with 2 more Salvos incoming S1S0 & Mamba. The Mamba I had before- it was by far my favorite- but needed to sell in September to acquire a carved top SG from daver on these boards. The S1S0 I actually chose to get over a real Peavy block 5150, lol. I was hoping to get both and put them to war, but funds did not allow. Salvation gives great tone with tons of switch options, it's mad fun. I love his take on Orange and Engl too, beautiful modern hi gain.

I got into mts specifically for Pete Gigmods work, those first modules I acquired >2years ago survived the flipping: Blackface, JTM, Tweed, SL+, Recto. Clean and articulate, Pete provides the best clarity of anyone around- totally top notch. I miss my Mailman 1087, that unit was very unique.

rm20s can be had for <$300 used these days, most modules sound great for leads with the rm20 boost + silent out makes it a steal

FYI My Blueblood Monkey tones in my signature from Spring 2010 are Mamba rhythm, GigmodsRecto(orange) leads, Gigmods JTM & Blackface for cleans

I really want to set up the rig I posted in the original post, but damn is it expensive. I could skimp on the power amp, but then I wouldn't be able to switch between tube types via MIDI, which would be nice since I would be running so many different pre-amp module types.

I've had all the mts amps- one notable unit is the rm100. It allows each power tube to be biased, as compared to the others that need a matched pair, but even then the biases never seem to totally match

You can load up a 100 with 2 pairs of differing tubes, like 2 6l6s & 2 el34s. Pull the fuses to isolate the desired tube. Not ideal, but doable in studio situations

Also, buy used, there's some killer deals floating out there

Still have the Lynch Box and the Plexi - With 5 heads total it still makes the rotation. Still bonding with my Fortin VM at the moment.

You can find RM100s cheap. I see them go for around 400 unloaded. Its a heavy fucker though

modesty forbids me to comment on the modules themselves *grins* but you really are missing out on the entire modular concept if you use a poweramp other than the Randall one. I ran mine for awhile with EL84s (using yellowjacket adaptors) and then KT88s on the other side. Since the amp was midi switchable too, with a RM4 preamp it gave me *8* different tones. Another fun combo is EL34s on one side and 6L6s on the other.

Finally, one other really neat idea with the power amp that I used to do is compare different brands and types of power tubes. Could load up say JJ 6L6s on one side and Ruby 6L6s on the other or whatever combination and compare them instantly. Plus you can bias each tube individually.

Tonewise I think the Randall is as nice as the boogie stuff, the VHT poweramps are a little better tonewise, but not nearly as versatile.

Pete
