Anyone else heard anything about this? I was watching the live stream from Germany yesterday and they had some backstage stuff before the show. Sambora went to the Marshall factory overseas to design his new amp. They didn't show much of the amp but at the meeting he was saying he liked the '59's clean channel and power section and whatever gain channel they had in his prototype was great. I think it was filmed back in January or earlier. I found a thread on the marshall forums where someone saw the actual prototype.

:jerkit:

Not ripping on Sambora. I like his tone and playing, just kind of turned off on signature gear in general. The worst to me is any kind of signature Les Paul, since it's already a "signature" guitar.

I don't think it is a rip to say that most people don't think of Sambora when they think of great Marshall players.

If this turns out to be true, I just don't see the marketing angle.

I agree...but he did mention about donating whatever money is made towards a charity...but who knows.

I think it's just a 1959 with a whiskey and pill dispenser.

...and an added knob labeled for suck and more suck.

Maybe the front headshell will have a slippery when wet road sign :hsy:

  Slippery when Boozed Up

If signature item gets you excited to play and offers something over stock value (the YJM Marshall comes to mind), I see no harm in owning signature pieces. I have 2 Sambora Kramers from the 80's, they along with my Charvel model 6 are the best playing guitars I have owned. I could careless who's model it is. I like playing them and doubt I will ever sell them.

I don't get all the Sambora hate  I mean the guy is a solid guitarist, wrote very catchy tunes and can sing his ass off. Does that warrant a sig amp? Probably not, but to bash on someone who has toured the world and made a gazillion dollars playing guitar is crazy talk imo.

Just sayin..

I don't get it either....one of the reasons I don't come here as often as I used to...or any guitar forums. Everybody is better than someone else it seems. Who cares?

To clarify (since I started the jokes), I like Sambora and think he's played some great stuff...I still spin his first solo album occasionally. I simply saw an opportunity to make a joke and took it...and apparently a few people found it humorous. No ill will was meant toward Richie...I hope his rehab was successful.

I'm not the Richie Sambora police and my comment wasnt directed at you ;) I too get frustrated at bashing successful muscians because of either their technique or genre. I'd trade places with that guy in a nano second and totally respect him as a player and musician. He may be a douche in real life, idk, but that has nothing to do with his accomplishments as a musician

+1

Since Don is gone, we're just having some fun

Nothing wrong with Sambora. On a serious note, I think Marshall's signature amps might be coming to an end.

Cheers,
Mike

He is in the puplic eye so his actions are open game just as any of ours here on the forum.

Dude was busted for driving wasted with his kids and other's kids as well, he has what he has coming to him.

I found your comment both entertaining as well as a correct observation of his actions of recent times.
