Sambora signature Marshall?

I'll infuse some positivity into this thread. SAmbora is a solid guitarist who wrote great hooks and had great vocals. He's also slept with some hot ass women. What's not to love? Sig amp? Sure what the hell.. it will prob sell more than the YJM. Do i need a clean channel? Not really i could careless. Actually i'll just stick with an old Marshall but whatever..

A 2 channel with '59 clean and a modded Marshall highgain side will always be exciting. Why not Sambora? I'm sure he is well enough known and many guitarist fanbois out there. Even if BJ is not my thing personally, I would still like such an amp.

Not ripping on him at all, He is talented and can play. I just dont see the market for a sambora marshall, in fact I would think that many would be embarrassed to use it in public. Do todays youth even know who he is much less care enough to seek out and buy his signature marshall?? It would have to be one hell of an amp for that to happen. Maybe in 89 it might have stood a small chance and even then its questionable. I dont think fender even offers his signature strat due to low sales etc.

I've seen him on stage (on TV) with Deizel's. I've seen him with Marshall's. I've seen him with Fenders. I have a feeling he's got a wall of whoever is giving him freebies at the time. Not that I blame him. Who knows what he's got miced up. POD? :dunno: No Sambora hate here. He's written some tasty licks with Bon Jovi and he has a great voice. Love them or hate them, gotta say they are one of the few 80's bands still working, still touring, still writing new music, and still relevant. Not sure what happened that landed him in rehab, I never pictured him as much of a drinker or drug user, but I hope he gets through the process and back to playing music soon. But as far as a signature head, I'm just pretty down on signature gear in general. Occassionally you'll run across something that that has some feature you are looking for that just happens to be a piece of signature gear, but in general it seem like a way for the companies to justify a huge price markup on a middle of the road piece of equipment.

I've had the good fortune to meet him a few times as one of my good friend's uncle is Doc McGhee. The time that sticks out in my mind is Doc's brother's funeral. This was in the mid 90's and Richie was still very popular. We were at a restaurant in the suburbs of Chicago just after the funeral and he had come to sit next to me at the bar, to bum a cigarette. Almost instantly he was surrounded by young girls, he took the time to talk with all of them and sign autographs. He spent about an hour with the small group of people. He politely excused himself as he had to get back to the private room where the dinner was being held.

Does he deserve a Signature Marshall? Who's to say? I guess the determining factor is, will it sell? If the answer is yes, they'd probably make an Obama Signature Marshall.

I can't say I'm good friends with Richie, actually that was the last time I ever ran into him, but he certainly came off as a good guy the few times I was in his company. I'm not going to defend the poor decisions he has made, but everyone makes mistakes. Just my $0.02 on the guy.

He was playing Deizel and Divided by 13 for quite a while....and was doing the whole floyd rose guitar with speedloader thing for a while too...

I am all for it if it offers something over the DSL50 or JVM 2 channel heads.

Any idea on the projected release date or street price?

Richie had a good tone back in the day. I am not sure its anything signature or much different from most every other back then. But hell, Kerry King and Zack Wylde got a signature and I can't stand either one of them. So, might as well give Richie one.

Let's not forget....he WAS banging Heather Locklear :D
If Marshall can build that experience into an amp, I'm all for it :2thumbsup:

Never heard of the Sambora Marshall, but a Satriani signature is going to be released soon AFAIK.

I agree. The tone on "Lay Your Hands On Me" is money.....

And, I don't even particularly like Bon Jovi........a little too commercial for me, but I totally respect what they have accomplished.

I got no knock against Sambora, Slash, YJM, Lemmy, or anybody else but it seems like they are about 20 years late with most of these sig Marshalls.

yeah I saw the prototype sambora head back in march of this year, I was told by richie's guitar tech that it was a head they were road testing for a future sambora model, they picked up the head while they were doing a bunch of dates in london. it was a generic looking marshall head with similar knobs to the dsl head with some sharpie hand written notes on it. who knows if it will ever go into production, my best guess is that he may end up using the head for himself and that's it, kind of a custom marshall head for his use only. also richie is pretty tight with jim marshall so that never hurts if you want to push and get a signature model...
