That's great to hear -- definitely post the tracks, I'd love to hear them!

Also, not sure what pickups you've tried so far, but definitely try lower output pickups at some point. It will be even tighter with more clarity and string separation than with higher output.
I work at a snail's pace, but when I get clips I'll certainly post them!
Interesting point about the pickups...I usually love my aftermaths in my LP, but I have another LP that has MMans and they sound much better in this setup. I was debating on pickups for my SG and I bet those BK Riff Raffs would love this amp

Yes, you're posts have kept my inner GAS going since the 1087 Mailman mod

Ray, not sure who Rhodes is but that sounds f'kin monstrous. \m/
I didn't know much background either...I was surfing for a modded Recto and stumbled onto this ebay ad. I recognized the Rhodes name from this site, heard his clips and the rave reviews and jumped in. Awesome work, this amp is a beast! Rhodes has super reviews on customer service and now I know why- the information he was able to give me on pms was super helpful.

Holy shit, sounds excellent!!

yeah been going on over a year with my modded Recto....played last nite for 4 hours with my drummer.
And damn it that amp still makes me smile when I play it. :D

Pull the plug on that tone chasing.

Amen Bro...! A while back I downsized my MTS mods from 24 to the 4 tastiest ones and bought a Cameron and a VHT with the proceeds. Couldn't be happier!

I also have a modded Recto in my future thanks to you Danno.... I haven't decided yet between FJA or Rhodes... I'm sure that both are great!

Yeah I did the same thing when I sold off my MTS stuff.
Bought a Diezel VH4 and had money left over!
Yeah....modded Recto....something special about them. PLayed/owned a shit load of amps....and these JUST OOZE tone! I am a FJA Fanboi so thats my choice but Rays sounds damn near identical to mine....so you can go wrong with either choice it seems. ;)

I don't even want to know which modules you kept- I'm in the middle of a full mts unloading and it's been a sad experience saying goodbye....until I plug into the Rhoades Recto--devasting in its level of awesomeness! The slightest changes in the pots create such new and great sounds...I'm sure that FJA Recto is also awesome, I'd love to hear them side by side. I think either one would be a great score

Nah Man....your ears arent lying....that Modded Recto is killing everything you had. :poke:

Pretty sure your Modded Recto is in the same ballpark as mine.
This is the reason for the Module Sell off...they will never touch the modded recto.

Hey,

what kind of cab/speakers are you running with Recto?

Merry Christmas!

^ I know this was directed at Dan I'd give a mix of Mesa V30's and Mesa C90's in an "X" pattern a shot, best mix I've heard a recto through.
They seem to balance each other out on the mids spectrum (being that the V30's are crisp in the high/middle mids and the C90's have that thickness and low mid girth)

I just recorded this with my turtle beach headset LOL just to show how the cab sounds in the room (recto cab with the speaker mix above)
Sadly it's recorded at farting levels (I'll borrow a Shure SM57 down the road to have a better recording)

Yes, I bet that sound ferocious in the room! I just surfed around on that speaker setup and it seems to be a good complimentary set. There's a used Mesa 4x12 in my area, maybe I'll scoop that up in a week or so- is an oversized Mesa 4x12 a good thing (powerful) or perhaps a bit too much?

It's a great match for the recto head, it's just that the full on straight front recto cabs are bassier than the slant cabs or straight/slant baffle cabs.
Since you don't have a 3 ch head or a stock Rev G (I modded mine to the specs of a Rev C) being overly bassy shouldn't be an issue.

Dual Randall Lynch Box 4x12's
Loaded stock with Eminence Super V's.....
Super Deep and Rich sounding.
I pushed them closer for this pic but play them about 10 feet apart. LITERALLY a WALL OF SOUND!!
Meet the twins! :D
