Savatage?

I LOVE this band!

They were a favorite of mine when I was a wee little lad but it was before I had a job and could afford CDs I kind of forgot about them since I might get lucky to hear Edge of Thorns on the radio once a year or so.

I'm rediscovering them right now and it's damn near all I listen to! Well, that and Goatwhore

Fuck yea he was! Zak Stevens is such an amazing singer too This is coming from a man who HATES clean vocals for the most part!

Modern music just doesn't supply this kind of talent anymore.

My faves, but you can't deny the greatness of "Hall of the Mountain King" as well. I freaking love Savatage.

I once heard that the tone on the first 3 albums was 2 Boss SD-1's (yes....2 of them) in line with gain maxed into a clean amp of some sort. Does anyone know if this is true

i'm partial to "gutter ballet" but that's the first one i heard. my fave song of theirs is "24 hours ago" tho...and yeah, goatwhore smokes 'em in a second...no offense to you savatage fans.

Hall of the Mountain King is a great album too. It sounds like a Marshall and SD1 to me....

Funny story....well kinda. My old metal band I was in had an opening slot for Savatage in the early 90's. We show up for soundcheck and there was no gear on the stage yet. We figured they were just showing up late so we hung around talking with the other opener. After awhile the bar owner comes out and tells us Chris and John got in a fight after the previous nites show and split up the band. We had to play along with the other opener.....kind of a bummer.
