And he absolutely smashed it. The guy is the total king of the live gig, no doubt. Saw him in 2007 and it blew me away but this was on another plane, man. Just incredible, with a really tremendous live band.

Also, his pedalboard kinda shits over popular internet opinion on tone...

Some videos.

Prince ( the artist formerly known as, the artist formerly known as Prince) truly has a unique style of playing. Regardless of liking his music or not, he's got chops.

Ive always dug Prince, I caught him on the Purple Rain tour at Nassau Colisseum and it was a blast...

Paul Gilberts Board is not unlike Princes...

looks intense =0

he's playing over here, but the 100 eu ticket price is rather offputting..

the superbowl halftime thing was incredible...

and one of the nights from this year's residence:

It's sad that his antics over the years have overshadowed his talent to some extent.

The guy is a perfectionist in the studio. I recorded an album up at OarFin Studios in Minneapolis, and one engineer I talked with said one day Prince brought in this guy to do some sax tracks. The guy layed down over 65 takes on one little 3 note part, until he was satisfied with the expression. :D

Can you imagine playing with him on stage....and not hitting the parts "just right" then he turns and gives you the ............."Gonna stomp your nuts with my High Heels!" look........

He's a great musician and composer but I wouldn't say he has great tone.

You can tell that James Brown influenced him in more than just music. You play that part wrong and he'd probably dock your pay

Fantastic musician, I really like his stuff. This thread reminds me I haven't listened to him in a while, have to throw some stuff on tomorrow at the office.
