Saw the LA Guns at the Whisky yesterday

i saw them a few years back when TG was having some anxiety issues. fortunately he made the show and it was loud as FOOK. 105-107 dB in that small eatery in Memphis (Lafayette’s). no one could talk texting only Incredible show with Faster Pussycat. T.G. Was playing his LPs. And he looked like the geico man coming from underneath the rock. Honestly, I don’t know what rig he was playing through as the Friedman was not plugged in and it was said before he used a Helix I believe. The opposite side of the stage had a Marshall. I don’t think that’s what he was using. Great show.

Damn that's loud!! And in an eatery too. And yep, that's a fitting description. Wouldn't know from the pics that he's a wicked guitarist about to melt faces, lol

Yeah Carlos is legend out there.

His early LA band Snow used to gig with Van Halen and the original Quiet Riot. They were a part of that early LA movement. When Rhoads left to join Ozzy, Carlos took over his guitar slot, although the singer (Kevin Dubrow) changed the name of the band to Dubrow. When they got signed they changed the name back to Quiet Riot. Carlos would later be a full time fill in for Robin Crosby's sport in Ratt and recently he' been out with Pearcy/DeMartini for whatever limited run they've been doing. Carlos was asked for years to stay with Pearcy in Ratt but said he couldn't/wouldn't do it without Warren.

If you want to hear Carlos with Ratt, check out their last record "Infestation". Carlos cowrote and ghost wrote much of that album. I was a fan of Carlos in the beginning, first two Quiet Riot albums I dug alot not mention the first one pretty much kicked off the entire LA Hair Metal movement of the 80's. He's a decent player.

I was a Sophomore in high school in 85' and started playing guitar then. There was such a huge amount of amazing hair metal, thrash, rock, etc., etc. Something for everyone. The songs were uplifting and about having a good time.

When it ended with grunge, it was time. I still am a huge hair metal fan but when Steelheart, Trixter, etc. came out, it felt like "haven't we done this already?". Very polished and a ballad first mentality by the labels.
