Freakin' AWESOME!!!! He was completely on fire and ripping it up...played lotsa cool tunes new and old...great band too! Oh and he plays LOUD!! Not as loud a Akrira Takasaki, but close   He played three solid hours. I took some pics and vids with my camera, probably not gonna be great though. He was using an old Marshall Superlead of some sort and a Framus Dragon or two...even saw an old Fuzzface on the floor. He uses the heck out of a whammy bar, feedback and such...very inspiring show. :)

We met him before the show which was very cool.

Gonna catch him again in Cleveland this Friday too and I highly recommend going if you can

The two best shows I've seen were Ozzy with Randy and this Uli show...just awesome.

EDIT:

Here are some pics from the show.....

a couple shots of his pedals....

Man, that's really cool! Uli's one of my all time favorites. He's a true innovator, and was WAY ahead of his time when he first came out with the Scorpions. Sails of Charon rules!

right on brother! Im so glad you got to catch him, it was one of the most inspiring performances I've ever seen from him career wise ..he's really on his game this tour!

Hey Ant!

It sure was awesome like you said. We had a great time...except for being lost in Pittsburgh on the way home  My friend is a big fan too and was really happy we met him. Picked up the new disc at the show too...havent checked it out yet.

What was up with the ebow type thing on the mic stand? Do you know what that was?

if you bring on of your Wizard heads,I "promise" you wont get lost in Parma !

Very cool George!! Cool shot of his pedal board, lots of great boxes there for sure

Cool pics!!!! What is the silver box between the Tubescreamer and the wah?

I have to say I was very impressed with the HK pedals during a demo at NAMM, awesome pedals and wished I could have scored Mentoneman's Replex.

Yeah Scott it was awesome. Nothing like seeing and hearing something like this in a small venue. Totally worth the 4 hour drive.

Yeah Darren there were a bunch of guys with camcorders. I tried with my camera but the sound is all distorted. Uli gets some killer tones happening and plays effortlessly.

Okay why 3 different wah's?
What does he use the H&K pedal for?
I'm not familiar with it.

Looks like the MXR CC delay too.

Cool pics and review, George! Did he use his skyguitar thru the whole show?

There are two HK pedals and have to guess Roto and Replex but could be way wrong.

I love how Yngwie says, when he was starting out, he was aware of Uli, but NOT influenced by him ! Yeah right

I think Ant said he is using two Replex units. It looks like some pedals might have been into the Marshall with others into the Framus. Not sure though.

Yeah he used the Sky 7 string for most of the new stuff and then the Sky 6 for the Scorps stuff...he tore up We'll Burn the Sky and Polar Nights...it was unreal!

I think they were two of the same pedal.

Yeah I'd have to say he "borrowed" alot from Uli. :D

Uli will change things around from to show to show...especially this tour. When i saw him a few weeks ago it was the first concert of the tour and the set up wasn't like what you see here. He didnt have the fuzz face nor the univibe...but did back in the day. He runs the framus and Marshall separately with a Replex into each amp. His pickups on the sky guitars are extemely hot so he manages to get the hang time with just a stock amp but turned up very loud with no boost. he'll only engage the ocatvia or fuzz during the feedback crazy shit that he does so beautifully. He used to use Roland Space echo's in the past. Uli is one of those players that can pull off just about anything on a superior technical level with just a clean tone setting. I'll post some pics soon from what i captured. Warren Dimartini also jammed with Uli that night i saw him and they were shooting pool later after the show and warren mentioned to me that playing along with Uli is not an easy task because he will put you on a spot and challenge you to allow improvisation during clean subtle sections. Warren was playing through a Soldano head and a little echo box in the loop. he was lost a few times, but did manage to pull off some cool shit. I highly recommend catching him this tour.

I have bootleg demos of YJM and audio interviews in 83' ...Uli and Blackmore are the only rock guys he talks about and literally demostrates note for note stuff from both. IMO he was more influenced by Uli's playing than Blackmore..he even ripped off the "Rising Force" title from the painting by Monnika Dannemann ( Hendrix's old flame and Uli's ex-wife) of the Uli Jon Roth Earthquake album. Image wise and blues based stuff is all Blackmore though.

I could see some spots in the show where they were jamming / improvising in the tunes....I always enjoy seeing and hearing that. The feedback/ whammy stuff was awesome, he really has that part down. Looking forward to Friday's show!
