that is a beautiful setup my man.

i've always been more of an 8 space or less rack guy myself.

ever thought of turning both cabs into stereo cabs, so you could feed the outer four speakers (when both cabs are side by side) left and right wet signals, four maximum spread, and the inner four speakers the dry tone?

Sounds like a great idea, but I think I'd have to replace speakers because the only way to feed the 2 dry sets of 2 interior speakers from the PM is at 8 ohm. The 3 "virtual cabs" I have are all 16 ohm... If I could make all 4 sets of 2 speakers 8 ohm I could even have a completely dry cab for recording the PM dry... hmmm... Too bad it would cost a fortune to do it!

Steve

ha that's the ohm factor that gets in the way when you are being creative.
for size limiting i've thought about a 2x12 or even 1x12 center dry cab, but the 4x12 factor is instant "fabio about to cliff dive in alcapulco" macho.

i'm curling the corner of my moustache just thinking about it...... :D

See, THAT'S why we keep you around! Two stereo cabs - side by side, outside speakers wet- inside dry. BRILLIANT!

I'm doin' it with 2 2x12's. Big rig will be a 4x12 in the middle, dry and the 2 2x12's on either side for the wet. Scaled down will be the 2 mono/stereo 2x12's as you described.

cockadoodledoo (yawn)!

mind your ohms and watts people...that's the biggest hassle about switching rigs for me

i've got my bogner 4x12 for dry and two matching wet 1x12s for the day i lose my mind again and and wander into 3-way live madness.

i figure two EVs, or two celestion golds in the stereo 1x12s should suffice

ps-i added a cool vid of chris poland/Ohm jamming for the very first concert held at tone merchants, and outside of some camera mic fizz in the loud parts, you can sorta hear his bradshaw rig do it's thing...plus he shreds.

Chris Poland OWNS.....but not as much as Mentoneman :D

With that said, I hate the lead tone that he is using. Ive never dug that over chorused warble detuned tone. Just could never get into it but his playing is insane

I should just buy a 3rd Mojave 4x12, turn my stereo cab to mono and be done with it... That'd still be "portable" right? :hys:

One of the best looking rig I've seen yet! Awesome Steve!

and oh no my good fellow,

Gainfreak Owns.

Very nice. Is the MPX1 really as lagging between presets as people claim? To me it sounds pretty overstated, what's your take.

Also, how do you like the Mojave? On paper they sound like a perfect plexi styled monster.

Not overstated at all. the lagtime on the lexi boxes absolutely sucks.

That blows. You see a lot of guys using them or that have used them. How do they get around that? Are they preset on certain channels and then put in a loop that is clicked in and out?

At least a second in lag time and you can hear it plain as day.

Most of the guys that I know who use the lexi boxes use multiple boxes set for a specific effect and they just kick them in and out as they need them.
The other way around it would to be to put them in a mixer but you can hear the effects kick in and out.

As far as the lag time - everyone has already said it. That said, I'm going to stereo detune/chorus with left delayed 250 ms and right delayed 500 ms and mix it low with respect to the dry sound and LEAVE IT. I felt the quality of the Lexicon efx outweighed the switching since I'm not gonna change it anyway. At most, I might switch a preset or two between jams and leave 'em for the whole song. If you are gonna be switching alot mid-song forget it...

Sounds good too! I'm looking forward to hearing this setup with my Egnater Seminar amp switched out for the PM as well!

Hey Bro, looks SWEEEEEEET!
I'm with you with the set it and forget it thing. the Detune instead of a chorus makes for a cleaner sound, but still fattens it up bit time.
great job

Great rig Steve!!

Im just lookin into those Gator Rack cases actually.. they do a Shock mount one called the Gator G-Shock, which is reasonably priced over here. I might end up grabbing the G-Shock 8U for my rack, and set it up so its more gig friendly

landau just uses one ore two patches all night, no midi footswitch, he just sits the lexi on his OD 100 head and calls up a new patch by hand in the dead space moments.
