I got a nice 90s USA Washburn the other day with one of the Schaller licensed Floyds that were prevalent on mid to upper mid level quality instruments from Jackson, Hamer, Charvel, etc back in the day. The intonation adjustment screw on the D string has finally started letting go and while randomly playing, the D goes super flat because the saddle had slid forward all the way and I have to crank it back down.

Does anyone know if any of the current production Schaller base plates are 100% compatible, or maybe a good place to get a low mileage one from the 80s/90s?

The baseplates can be purchased. I just got one recently, still waiting on some saddles though, hope they get them someday.
Your local shop can get them thru Harris Teller. Not cheap though.

Yeah, that happens to almost all the old Schallers. You can buy the current baseplates (with the added inserts for the intonation screws) as direct replacements, but they sell for €80 and upwards depending on finish. The black one is €115 factory direct, over half of what the whole unit costs. I refurbished tons of these when the baseplates were €25 ten-fifteen years ago, now I´d probably look at replacing the whole thing which obviously is what Schaller is hoping for.

I had emailed them directly several weeks ago about something and I couldn't really get a straight answer about who in the States might stock their stuff. All I find anywhere are their tuners or non-locking bridges, or the entire Floyd.

The baseplates are tough to find these days, in Europe there used to be a few places that carried them but now they're just direct from Schaller as far as I know. Don't know the situation in the States, though, but I suppose you just as well could buy them from Germany without the middle-man.

Like I said in my first post, go to your local shop and ask them to order it for you from Harris Teller. Most all shops deal with them for accessories.

Wonder if you could take it a local machinist to have repaired or replicated? Should be able to resleeve the worn threads at least I would think?
