So, I'm looking for a Vol Pedal to put in my loop. Dave Friedman told me to use a low impedance in my loop.

The only one I can find that's low is the BOSS FV-500L. Are any of the Ernie Ball pedals low imp?

I told the guy at the store I need a low imp and he looked and me like I was "insane" and said any pedal would work.
Well I don't want to FK around with this and just the the right one to start with.

If I put a vol pedal out front I'm assuming that's where I'll use a High Imp correct? BOSS FV-500H.

The bitch of the deal is those BOSS pedals are hard to find. I'll have to order it.

i too am in the market for a volume pedal. every high-end board i see has an ernie ball volume pedal...yet i keep reading negative reviews about them because of their alleged shoddy builds/parts.

I have been using the same full size EB one for over 10 years with no problems or repairs. (may break tomorrow, but so far so good).

Ernie ball makes a 250k and 25k version of their volume pedal. The 25k one is more suited to low impedance signals (active pus, fx loop, etc).

what "theonetruematt" said is correct.

Ernie Ball makes different versions of the volume pedals with different specs.

25k is used for low impedance including fx loops and active pickup guitars(EMG, etc).

250k is used for high impedance signals such as passive pickup guitars.

I have always used the Ernie ball volume pedal Jr. and never had any problems with them.

Does your guitar have active or passive pickups? What are trying to accomplish with the volume pedal, Do you want it strictly to control the volume or do you want it as an expression pedal for a rack effect or something like that?

i, personally, am looking for strictly volume control, but i would be using it with both active and passive pickup guitars (though mostly passive). any 'all-encompassing' EB volume pedals?

One may work better for both situations, but to be honest you are better off buying two separate volume pedals then, which stinks. The taper will be off if you don't use them in the correct setup.

booo-urns.

Thanks for the info guys. I tried a few out at the store today to get a feel for how to use them with my rig.

How do you know which is which? I've had a EB for like 5 years and I don't know what it is. I've been running it the loop of my Einstein for the last few. What happens if you run a 250k in the loop? Not you got me worried I mite be f'ing something up.

It wont mess anything up so dont worry about that. Best way to check is look for the model number on the pedal somewhere (its 4 digits starting with the number 6), once you have that you can look it up on the Ernie ball site and it will say if it is 25k or 250k.

I have had a 25k Ernie Ball volume for many years and never had a single problem with it. The 25k works with passives just fine too. But the other way around (actives with a 500k) sucks for the taper.

I would highly recommend getting a 25k, seeing as it works great (taper included) for BOTH passive and active pups.

any major differences/advantages between the 6167 and the 6181 vp jr (aside from the 6167 being stereo)?
