Scored killer deal on a junked amp

Went to my favorite second hand store and saw a 2007 65 Twin Reverb reissue for $250. It was marked junk. I asked if it powered up. They let me plug it in. Power was good. Volume severely cut out on the volume for other the regular and vibrato channels. That all I needed to see because the transformers were good.


The humidity and salt in the air is harsh here if you don’t climate control your home and this was a prime case of that. I did a deoxit treatment in all sockets, removed the control panel PCB cleaned all connections and gave all pots 3 good doses of deoxit. I then fired it up and it works great!

just to demonstrates the salty humid air here look at the top tube compared to the cleaned one. I run dehumidifiers 24/7 here.

The tubes are still pretty closely matched but I need to pull. The chassis again and adjust for more current deal. Right now they cold at 21ma.
