Screwed over by lending guitar to friend!!

Oh my god!!! I lent my guitar to my friend for a few hours. usually a responsible decent guy, but in this case, I am totally blown away!! This is, actually was a new Suhr Modern. I got it home, took it out, and what do I find, but a MASSIVE CHIP below the bridge, and another one up higher by the strap holder. I hate even small imperfections, but this is totally over the top. So, I called him immediately, and he feigns innocence, or stupidity, saying, "I didn't see any dent or chips?" Are you sure it wasn't there already. Needless to say, you could not miss this massive chipped piece of maple as it sticks out like a raisin in a bowl of rice!! Anything like this ever happen to any of you guys?? Man, I have been friends with this dude for literally 28 or 29 years, we met in 5th grade!! He has never done anything like this, or even remotely close!! This guitar was in 10/10 condition before this. Also, he must have exposed it to a ton of dust somehow. It looked like it had been in a sandstorm. I am having a full blown freak out. Just look at the pics. I have this up on my local craigslist as a trade for a J Custom. Looks like I am going to have to take that ad down. Nobody would ever trade for a guitar like this. I cant believe the guy I loaned it to is denying it. Ok, I had to vent in an attempt to calm myself a little. What would you guys do in this situation? I would even feel a lot better if my buddy said, "man, you are going to kill me, I dropped/knocked over your guitar!" If he was honest it would not be nearly as bad.

Damn, sorry to hear that!! I would be livid!!!

I have loaned my guitars and amps to my buddy, who by the way smokes on the guitar, when I was selling my house back in 2008 and he took awesome care of them and he was not a long time friend.

If you kept the Luxxtone, a chip would not of mattered!!! :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL:
 
Sorry to hear. Sounds like complete bullshit on his part. Can't trust anyone these days.

As for the pics, just make a quick Imageshack acct or use imagebam (no acct needed).

whoa....that's terrible. I'm really sorry dude. Suhr can fix it for you, but it will cost.

How close are you to him? I've talked to people for 15 years that I'm still just acquaintances with, lol. If it's like that, I would just say bullshit you didn't notice. I'd have a harder time if it was a close friend though. Tough situation, I hope that you can work something out.

to me, it looks more than horrible because before that it was PERFECT!!! I also just noticed the third fret on the b string is beyond buzzy and almost dead. I cant figure out why it is happening. no other frets are dead???? I am going nuts.

Damn, that sucks. I lent a Charvel Model 2 to a buddy years ago and his dog chewed the headstock - i was super pissed and that was just a $300 guitar, so I really feel for you..
 
He should pay for the repairs. Needs to man up here
 
That is ridiculous. I don't care how long you know someone, I'd call him out.
He obviously doesn't respect you or give a shit about the relationship so why should you?

this is driving me nuts, the third fret on the b string is almost dead. it just sounds flubby and like shit but I cant figure out why??

Change the string.
 
Time to get some new friends. Make sure you extract payment 1 way or the other. Does he like the way his car looks?
