So I decided to take advantage of GC's holiday sale and landed myself a SD Blackout AHB-1 bridge pup. Is it a drop-in replacement for the EMG 81 that's currently in my Schecter Hellraiser?

Plug on the Blackouts is backwards from the EMGs, but still fits the same.

Nice! I had no idea they were compatable. I've been rocking a pair of Blackouts on an Ltd Gus G for a couple of months and I much prefer the tone to that of my two ESP Eclipses loaded with the stock EMGs. Seems much more organic and "growly".

That's what I'm hoping, and I'll see if there's less hum as advertised.

Just replaced the EMG 81 with the AHB-1. Such a better, quieter, warmer, and fuller pickup. Really liking this thing! BTW the EMG 81 is for sale. :)

i need some cheap single emg 81's. replacing my old school 18vdc duncan heavy metal live wires.

Kinda funny. I just put back in my EMG 81's after playing around on SD Blackouts, AHB1's and the Mick Thompson AHB3's. They were too tame for me. Nice active pick-ups. The Micks were to harsh/cold/stiff and the AHB1's were boring and sterile, maybe more of a polished sound than the EMG's? The EMG's rock. More growl, bite and 'tude IMO... Although at one point i wanted more refinement than the EMG's had to offer. SD Blackouts take care of this.

Probably going to throw my Motor City Hell baby in the bridge and after talking to Wade, he said he'd make me a custom version of his 2nd degree Black Belt to balance out the Hell baby...
