Well,

Glad I only over paid x 2 and not x4 or x 5 like some people did. A lot of listings looking for suckers out there and this release should bring the current ones back down to earth. I had emailed MXR asking if they would do this, glad they did. Truth be told though, nothing special in the polkadot version. It runs a little tighter than my 81 Disto + but both do the thing when you can play the licks and you have an EQ after it to shape it. I really like the aesthetics of this one. Very smart marketing and I suspect a pedal they will keep in rotation.

I have D+s ranging from ‘77-‘79. I have no desire for this pedal. Unless it’s really cheap.

The first pedal version didn't even have the correct color. in which black was used.

According to Karl Sandoval, he used dark midnight blue to paint the RR Flying V.

I have to say I do love how this looks but that sound is not for me. Most sounds would tell you themselves that they are not for me.

What really would have been cool is for MXR to incorporate the fixed EQ position from his MXR EQ pedal right into this one on a switch so that it would be ready to fire into the front end of a Marshall. You hear that MXR?? Your welcome.

His tone was killer live. Been re learning SATO for fun, tones are pretty rippin on it. Will probably grab one of these to have at some point. I like the Dist + anyway.

Tribute is also heavily produced and lots of high end added. It's great but listening to the bootlegs, you see also how fat/thick his tone was. Not just huge but UGE. Honestly I wish Ozzy had convinced Schenker to step in instead of Gillis, can you imagine how that would have gone?? Primed Schenker ripping those leads in his own signature style. That would have been something we still talk about today I 100% guarantee. Off topic though.

The gold knob version generates more inductance, creating a richer tone with more inherent clarity. This is the syence behind the magic boys.

I dunno Schenker would have had to learn how to use his pinky.

I found some really cool bootlegs last week I never heard before. Posted them in the other thread. Very cool to hear more of the stage sound.

Which thread? Ozzy is dead?

Strange the companies are pushing out additional batches of ltd edition stuff. I presume Gibson will do the same with the 200pc ltd edition IIC++ as well.

I'd rather pay @griff10672 to make one. 😉

I could do a polka dot MXR .... with all kinds of mods ....

but I won't for the same reason I didn't do a " Eddie " pedal with his stripes

I could copy those Concord graphics to a tee .... you wouldn't be able to tell the difference ...

but I won't ...... cause it's Randy

just those two ....... everyone else is fair game

I wouldn't be interested in a RR themed pedal. I'm not interested in either of the recent MXR versions. I would on the other hand be interested in a clone of a late 70s Distortion + with a built in EQ component fixed at the settings Randy used. If that were even possible.

That's essentially what I had asked for before and hoped these would be. It doesn't need to have his paint scheme or graphics, just a " tight" mod to simulate his eq after the OD. Make it a rusty yellow color sticking to the original and just put a RR switch (tight)on it for the sound. Then if you are ambitious, make it a double pedal w/ chorus so we can throw that on it and boom!!! The ultimate tribute pedal is born. Call the pedal " Tribute".
