I've just sold my Hagen today, too modern and too many options. Not going that way again.

I'm in the search for an amp that both have thick distortion and excellent crunch with the possibility to clean up with the volume pot.

I live in Denmark, so a Friedman would be too expensive over here with customs and so on. I have thought of a killer Kali++, but can it achieve a slightly overdriven tone well? Or is it strictly for a distorted sound?

:)

The Killer Kali++ can cover everything from Plexi style Classic Rock, to 80's metal, to modern brutal high gain  Plus i can make it switchable between 3 and 4 gain stages, so you can get original Cali Mod tones too.

Marshall 2203KK
Hermansson Laney PA
Hermansson Marshall 2203

:D

I don't know if I'm liking that new avatar Dan. I think you're a nicer guy than that.

And to the OP, I'd say PT100 but I'm sure they're not very readily available either.

This. ^^^ Also there's a couple of sah-weet Camerons on Ebay right now.

YJM 100 does it all, the best 'new' Marshall in years..
Atomic Playboy

I love my amps, but I have this condition that makes me want to try new amps. I'm sure most of you are familiar with this.

The Killer Kali++ has my attention right now. I tried one a couple of months ago, hopefully I can try it again some time soon. :)

This!!! My Kali has every good Marshall tone and then some under its Chassis. From slightly pushed plexi, to Cali mod, to added 4th gain stage full on useable gain, to even getting close to the Diezel and Mesa territory(darker and bassier) with a few tweaks of the poweramp voicing controls. Throw that in and with it being all footswitchable.. it's an amazing machine! Plus, Dan is over there by you which makes things a bit easier. Just my 2 cents.. but I love my 2 cents :D

Get a Marshall if you want Marshall tone

You can't just make a blanket statement like that. Not all Marshall's are created equal. A JCM 900 or a DSL isn't gonna sound like a really good JCM 800.

didn't you try ch2

Peter, swing by my place and try the KK++ again. Now you can compare it to a Friedman as well. Both the KK++ and the Friedman are totally damn awesome... None is "better" than the other, just slightly different and both are very very very good.
