I have heard of the New York Dolls, but I don't think I have ever heard their music.

I didn't like the Ramones much the first few times I listened to them, but now I really like them.

The New York Dolls are garagey rock, I like them fine, but in smaller doses. Love the Ramones though. I think they were a bigger fashion influence, the Stooges, Velvet Underground, and MC5 had a bigger music influence. The Ramones always said their biggest influences were the Shadows of Knight.
