Seriously, where did all the old time Rig Talkers go?

July 16th, 2006 was my join date.

I come and go, depending on where my interest, time, and bank account level is at..... :D

But, in almost five years, most of it has been covered before.

I was never on HCAF. I simply gravitate to places where people seem to know what they're talking about and seem to have the experience to back it up.

Cheers,

this.

I will say that I miss the comradery of the old times. It was fun and brutal in equal measures. Met some good people (face to face) out of the forum, and have some good friends I've never met before.

I would still like to know where all the Strat-head GMW's went????

I agree with this. Doesn't feel like a community much anymore.

Ive been here since the early days, i was like the 35th member i think.

I check out the board everyday but i dont always post, i really miss the older memebers and the cool people that was here from the start, seems like times have changed the last couple years and people just fade away and dont come back and then a batch of new people come in and some are really cool. theres certain little trends around here that annoy me, im so sick hearing how great fortins and camerons are, or how splawn mids are wierd, the 80s hair metal stuff gets old too, or how nad does gibson suck these days. it seems like its the same guys with the same stupid jokes posting the same old shit, it gets old and its just boring. i think that also has to do with why some people dont come back, they just get bored of 40 yr old guys that wanna try and make it like highs school around here.

I dont know if any of that makes sense or if anybody will agree, im sure somebody will disagree but i dont really care.

I have alot of friends here and theres some great info if you dig thru the bullshit, i value many of you guys opinions on gear and im always happy to help anybody that asks and i have many times, some of you guys really are great players and have a great ear for tone and know how to dial in your amps, theres some really awsome clips too. so theres definately some great talent and info around here, i also think brad has done a nice job and hes always been cool.

#120 to join and got mega use when running Egnater. Now I just hang out and check out everyones take on gear! As noted by many, tuff times have curtailed the gear whoring I employed before 2010. But on a bright note, I found a job as a practice manager of 2 Optometry offices. Not the kind of pay I should get but it's fair, 5 minutes from home and I just might be able to buy one office get my dad to sell out of his 5 office practice and employ him as the doctor and have a great opportunity for me and for him in his last 3 years of working!

It makes sense...
The trends annoy me too. Not because any of the amps being hyped are bad, on the contrary they all seem to sound great. But there's nothing particularly earth-shattering going on. At the end of the day, they're all based on modded Marshalls and share alot of the same characteristcs. It gets tiresome to hear "This is the best modded Marshall evar!" every couple of months... LOL! :D That's why I don't come here nearly as much as I used to.

Man, I have been here for like ever!

And by like ever means about 9 months!

I still have my two. :D

Jason

But there were a ton out there (I think most of them passed through my house at one time or another) and now you NEVER see any being sold. At least I don't.

There's one in the classifieds right now. ;) Hotrod flames I think.

I have a white and blue Jake and wish a purple would show up to complete the set. I probably won't ever get rid of mine.

I'm wondering what has happened to this place. I hardly see any of the old time Rig Talkers here anymore. I'm talking about that core group from the first HC exodus. The ones that put RT on the map and made this the coolest gear forum around. Has everyone finally matured, except me? Has everyone moved on?
Hey Chubtone :poke: Does that answer your OP?- 162 posts. That was better than a Mason being called up to Lodge. :student:

One of my rare posts....

I've always really liked the close-knit community that the old-timers have created in RT, though I've never really participated in it. Tons of great knowledge available but because forums aren't indexed for subject matter, threads with epic content get lost and the content washes up in fragments across hordes of redundant posts and its getting really boring... I'm also tired of posting my opinion (which rarely changes) on various things over and over....

Frankly, I'm also just getting burned out on forums in general. I spend waaay too much time in front of a computer in general (like sooo many others) and the reason is because it is easier than getting off my ass and practicing. I am resolving to change that in the near future by logging into a couple of forums maybe once every week or two and picking up the guitar more.

I guess a lot of the old-timers are at the same forum-plateau that I am at and need some new and different inspiration.

Do you own a Charvel? :D

I just get the occasional bit of gas pains on forums for things I don't really need.
It's because of forums that I love my gear and tone that I have now...but I feel I don't learn much anymore. Most talk around here is about amps with way more gain than I'm in to. The Gear Page talks more about the gain levels and tones I dig, but half that place is seriously nuts...debating the most minuscule, pointless details over and over.

Don't get smart with me mister! I've owned charvels the first time they were cool!
I'm to the point where almost every forum irritates me...same behavior regardles of topic...
