I saw a used 50th Anniversary Gibson SG available and ended up trading someone for my 89' Les Paul Standard. Loved the LP, but already have an LP Classic with 2nd Degree BB that I play way more. The old Standard was not getting played and I had been looking for an SG for years.

Great guitar! It has 24 frets versus 22 frets and has 57's for pickups. Just plays and sounds great! I had SGs in the past on two different occasions and have missed having one around. I don't know what it is about an SG but just works so great in all types of situations. I'm always amazed how full the sound is. Anyway, just glad to be back in the SG club again. :)

Ive always preferred them to Les Pauls, I’ll be buried with mine

It's crazy because I remember loving mine when I had them but it has probably been 15 years or so since I've owned one. That time apart from an SG made me forget what great tones are in there. :)

The SG is a strange guitar because you pick it up and it is so light that you almost can't imagine that it would have the low end and warm tone that it has. You could almost think it would have a brittle tone. I like a good Les Paul but like you, I'm starting to think that the SG is my preferred one. Even sitting down and playing, it feels more comfortable.

I’ve neglected my sg for too long
Time to bust it out!

I've been wanting to love SGs for years but everytime I tried one in a store, playing standing up, the damn thing is neck-heavy... Big no-no for me as I never play sitting down. Does a non neck-heavy SG exist at all ?

I don't play alot standing up anymore because I don't gig but don't remember mine being neck heavy. I know the strap situation is a bit weird because of where they have to put the strap button. I don't know if the 24 fret one like mine would make things better or worse.

No issues with neck dive on my 2017 Standard here.

Must have been unlucky then. I need to try some more....

Try moving the strap button from behind the neck joint to behind the top horn. It will then hang much more balanced.
