Have any of you run into any issues with shipping guitars overseas due to CITES restrictions? I know brazilian rosewood is an issue, but what about other species of rosewood? I've read that "they" can confiscate any guitar that they suspect may be constructed with brazilian rosewood.

If you ship with USPS there are certain restrictions for each country.
Some countries its actually illegal to ship a deck of cards to (Gambling Device)

Just google the countries Restrictions for importing.

I've heard that guitars (and other items) are getting confiscated for having "old wood"?

Yeah I havent shipped anything since the big lockdown on 'rare' woods.
If you feel uncomfortable I wouldnt do it. Unless the guy on the receiving end said he is willing to chance it.

So far, eBay has been refunding the buyers and has not (yet) been debiting sellers accounts. Anything is subject to change, so I guess it's best to not risk it.

I'm currently working in the Middle East and bought several guitars and amp online from US and EU. Never had a problem with our customs here.
If you're selling in eBay its good to use their Global Shipping Program. I think they will be the one dealing with shipping your stuff overseas. Less hassle for you. Better than USPS because they have certain restrictions on dimensions of the package.

I went to list my item, and a notice appeared stating that it contains materials that MAY BE restricted under CITES.

I've been importing guitars into Australia for several years, and we have some of the toughest import restrictions in the world. No issues down under = all good.

i probably import and export more than anyone here. no BRW problems on either end. 99% of people couldn't tell the difference in various rosewood anyway, customs inspectors included.

Ive shipped guitars all over and Australia is by FAR the biggest headache.... no question...sold a Musicman JP6 recently (had sold one in the past and sent it down under) and the restrictions had changed AGAIN since then, just the case by itself in NO packaging was too large... huge pain in the ass... they are pretty damned strict that's for sure...
