ugggh; I'm done shipping anything bigger than a pedal or syn module

Better off selling guitars at guitar center now!! All said and done you'll end up getting fucked monetarily either way but without all the hassle!!

Amazon should start shipping other people's goods. How about the USPS, any cheaper?

It's nuts. What cost 100$ to ship in 2020, is now 200+. Insane. Might as well start a business account with one of the shippers and see if you get a break.

Jesus Christ they've went up a ton since covid it cost me $270 to ship a guitar it was double boxed and insured for $2,500 through the UPS Store! It's ridiculous!
That's nuts. Last time I sold a guitar, probably 2020 was my 7 string Ibanez presitge. I didn't ship it too far, but in a case and double boxed was like $70 insured for $1100.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Fed Ex and UPS likely losing money by having these contracts with Amazon, Wal Mart, eBay, or any other massive retailer to ship their packages as low as possible, but losing money and instead of charging them more, opting to force us to cover their losses when I want to go ship a video game or amp head or car part to any one on the internet.

You would have paid much less if you packed it yourself, assuming you didn’t.
THIS.
Man, I remember last time, the FedEx employee gets out TWO HUGE boxes, then another huge box then that super thick bubble shit.
Me: “ Whoa, hold up , hold up, I’m not shipping my Mother in a coffin here sir”….
-I get it-
and so do those geniuses who figured how to maximize on the situation.
-I went to Sam Ash and got a Fender guitar box for free, studied how to pack a guitar proper with
frugal amounts of materials.,
-it’s more the way it’s packed internally then just
Loading up a damn POD storage size box of materials for a Telecaster.

And get an account. UPS stores can charge different depending on the store and are always more than if you print your own label
Yup. I’ve got a FEDEX account and don’t get bent over too hard on shipping.

You sell to GC, you won't have to deal with a 1099

Just shipped a Les Paul insured for $2,000, packed by me double boxed, and it was $168. The guy that was shipping a LP to me used ShipNerd through UPS and his cost $74. There are ways to save if you look I guess.

Your first mistake was letting a UPS store do this. They charge 3-4 times what a UPS depot charges since they're independent and not run by UPS. They're shipping dealers.
The only advantage to using UPS store or Fedex Office pack is that they are liable for the damage loss. So you're covered. In theory anyway.
