Should I make this trade?

I've had my EVH 5150 III for sale for a while and really haven't been interested in anything else but either cash in my pocket, a Kemper (with cash on my end) or keeping it.

Today around lunch time I got an interesting offer on FB. A local-ish guy has an ENGL Invader 150 he is interested in doing a straight trade with me for. I have only ever seen videos of these amps but I have always been intrigued by them and very curious to try one.

It looks pretty clean from the couple of pics he sent and it does come with the footswitch...

Is this a worthwhile trade? :confused: Tell me things about this amp that I should know...
 
I had a powerball and a Blackmore. Loved both of them. Great sounding amps. I’m a big fan of Engl stuff. Well made too !! Never owned a 5150 so I can comment on that Just my experience from engl
 
Personally I’d do that trade in a heartbeat, I’m not at all a fan of the EVH though.
 
The EVH is sitting in my closet right now. I regularly use a 6505+. I just think it sounds better.

Guess I will need another 4x12 or a 2x12 for the 6505+ soon. I love that amp too much just to put it away... lol
 
I’m the opposite, and LOVE the Evh, but the couple Engls I’ve spent time on were fine amps too. Sounds like an equal trade, and they all do the brootz well.

Don't get me wrong, I love my EVH, but the 6505+ does what I want a tad better there so I will keep that instead. It seems to have more mid growl and seems a little tighter than the EVH.

If I don't like the ENGL, it's Kemper time...
 
I'd jump on that. They're great amps. A friend has one and prefers it over his Diezel VH4 and Herbert.

I'd take a 6505 over an EVH any day. More aggressive, more raw. I find the EVH's bland.

Are you around the Cleveland, Ohio area? I had a guy offer me an Invader for my 5150III as well a few weeks ago. At least, that sounds very familiar to me anyway.
 
I liked the Invaders best of the Engls I had. I would trade
 
In terms of tone, it's honestly just preference. I don't have a lot of experience with the Invader but I hear good things about it. In terms of value though, I think that guy is losing his ass on that deal.

engl invader 2 is worth more though than 1st invaders. but it’s still a money upgrade trade
