I just bought a brand new 2017 Gibson Les Paul Classic T (sea foam green) and a local guy wants to trade me this PRS Custom 22 for it.

I like both Gibson and PRS equally.

From a value standpoint, I kind of HAVE to do this right? The PRS is worth about $1700-$1900 USED and I paid $1700 for my LP brand new last week.

I'd do it. Sell the PRS, and buy a used LP standard/classic from 2008 or earlier, and you'd still have a couple hundred left over if all went well.

Eh. Not crazy about that finish personally, but I'm picky. Value wise- it makes sense. As long as you like PRS. Are you not diggin the LP too much?

I'd put value aside and go by feel. Which neck feels best to you?

I have a PRS Custom 24, and a LP.

I rarely play the LP, my PRS feels better, fatter sound, more comfortable, and is flawless in build quality. I plan to get a single cut PRS and get rid of the LP.

Those old tuners will drive you crazy on that PRS. I would see which one feels/plays the best in your hands and go from there.

I would because seafoam green doesn't belong on a Les Paul haha. Seriously, I'd let the guitars themselves do the talking. Whatever one feels, plays and sounds better is the keeper, don't worry about the dollar value

Yeah, I agree. I had an 1989 custom 24 with those cam lock tuners and they were a little annoying, but once you figured them out it was not too bad.

BTW that was the best playing/sounding guitar I've ever had, and I hate myself for letting it go

This. I hate those tuners.

I had a pair of CU24s in the late 90s. Fit & finish was flawless and they had amazing playability. I bought them because I wanted the perfect comprimise between strat and LP. Turned out that the PRS' were neither. I got bored with them within two years and dumped them to go back to a strat and an LP. The CUs were very sterile and lacked character. The HFS and Vintage Bass pickups were lame. The 5-way rotary switch was horrible. If I was going to get another older PRS at some point, I was absolutely dump the pickups and the swap-out the rotary for a 3-way LP style toggle. But I wouldn't trade my LP R0 or Anderson Classic (strat) for any PRS. I'm happy these days letting LPs and strats do what they do best.
