I have and love the Modern Classic it's fantastic - can produce some ball crushing gain. The TriAmp Mk II I played once or twice sounded cool, but it's no freaking Wizard.

THIS x 1,000,000,000,000,000.

The H&K is not even in the same league, AT ALL.

Plus, if it's a Modern Classic II, it's a $5k amp new with shipping and taxes. NO BRAINER deal here!

Yeah, it's sad but i think i like my $200 Peavey VTM60 better than the Triamp. I really wanted a Bogner Ecstasy but it sounds like the Wizard will also fit the bill.

Thanks all. I'm going to call him and arrange to meet. Hopefully it happens!

the guy must be high to part with the Wizard for the HK, or his GAS is kicking him in the balls.

He has 2 lol.....this and a MTL. As well as a Peters, Diezel etc. I think i may delete this thread in case he sees it and changes his mind lol

Every single Wizard I have heard via online or live has been fantastic. I'd love to own one myself but it's beyond my budget or need at this point. That being said, it sounds like you want this so get it and enjoy!

:)

Don;t do it! The wizard is a shite amp for really crappy players!! It's typical Canadian garbage.

Got it! Sounds amazing but has an issue. It seems that on the lead channel the rhythm channel is bleeding through at a way louder volume. If i have the rhythm set clean and switch to lead it sounds like the clean channel with the lead channel bleeding through at about 25% of the volume. I replaced preamp tubes with no change. Anyone have any ideas what this may be?

Yes, it's an MC2. 2 years old before the loop was standard. I find that if i turn the bright knob on the back to the brightest position for the lead channel, crank the rhythm master on 10 and use the rhythm pre low for a clean there's no bleed through. As soon as i turn down the rhythm master OR move the bright trim knob on the back to the left then the bleed through gets crazy loud. It's like the lead channel gets overtaken by the clean until they are blended together. BUT, i have to say that this amp KILLS me it sounds so good!

I've seen a lot of people bash great amps like the TriAmp MK II and the Splawn Quick Rod. Then I watch how they "dial in" the amp, and what speakers they use, and I understand why. If you can't sound good with either of these amps... We'll, there's always bass...

The Triamp is a great amp.....just not for me. i like that upper mid "kerrang" that it lacks. And no speaker change or "dial in" period will change that.

One of the best live tones I've heard was a guy opening for Velvet Revolver playing through a Wizard half stack. He sounded 10x better than Slash's wall of Marshall's and NASA rack.

If you have bleed through a good tech should be able to install a shunt to ground the unused channel. Its also possible it could be as simple as changing the input jack grounding.

Who in this thread is "bashing" the HK (or QuickRod, for that matter)? The OP asked if he should do the trade, which was followed by a number of people - including myself - expressing their personal opinions/experience of HK vs. Wizard. Nobody said the HK was a "bad" amp....
