I've been back and forth on this and am back again.

For the right price, I'm ready to sell the paisley Shiva-Japan rig (head and matching 2x12), but just haven't put it up for sale (I'll surely be mocked for what I want for it, but so what!). But what I'm thinking now is maybe there's someone with an Axe-FX II that would be interested in a trade for the Axe plus some cash.

The reason being, I really want to start recording again but I don't want to mic amps this time around to avoid the noise and the hassle and because there are some great direct tones in the Axe.

The Shiva-J is a great amp, extremely rare in the U.S., and mine is dressed in matching paisley which makes it even more unique. But, I rarely use it anymore, for the past 4 years or so.

So what do you guys think. Talk me off the ledge or push me over.

Tune from my instrumental CD, Shiva-J for Rhythms and leads.

Unfortunately I only showcased a very small bit of its versatility in the video.

Torpedo if you don't mind hooking up the amp or for real straight into your DAW tone without tweaking and no compromise tone, grab a Kemper on the used market, it really can't be beat!

If you never use it sell it and get the recording rig up and running.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I really need a good recording solution for demo's.

If you get the price you're looking for why not? If you don't you can just keep it. I'm sure SOMEONE out there digs the paisley.

Bro thats a tough one. Just hope you don't sell it and regret it down the road. Since you asked my vote is to move the amp and get the Axe. My thinking is it's a new way of creating tones and music. As a musician you my find more musical growth than continuing on with the same old gear. Either way good luck.

The original super Shiva before later generation Shiva tweaks and the 20th were released.

Go for it Bob, and if you're up to international shipping add Japan a collector might go for it. :)

im on my 2nd shiva bob but the axe if you need it is a good thing:)

Thanks dudes... seems like I've been pushed. What I think I'll do is put it up and see what happens. I do dread shipping a cabinet but I guess the upside is it's only a 2x12.

Good luck with the sale! Looks like an amazing piece of gear!

What about a two notes torpedo?
Torpedo Live  Can use headphones for night jamming :m17: and keep true tube amp tone feel. :D

Just to let you know, Bob.......the Axe II has a very nice Shiva clean preset on it that stands out. Not worth selling all your glass just for that, but if your goal is what you say, then you won't be disappointed.

Bob, I've loved your Bogner demos for many years now. Your demos are a part of the reason I decided to try out the Bogner and quickly fell in love with them. I've since owned shivas, super shivas, 20th shivas, xtcs, classics, 100b and currently own the Uber (ironically because he went to all all AXE FX rig) So just saying thanks for all the clips you've made.

If getting an AXE gets you to start making clips again then sell the Bogner. And if someone offers you what you want for the Shiva then you've made someone super pumped to have that amp and it will be used again.

Good luck!

Right on, appreciate the input guys and RSRD, the pleasure was all mine.

Bob,

I have enjoyed the tones you have gotten from a variey of guitars and amps. I really don't think it will matter for your tone. The playing is 95% of it once you have good baseline rig.

I may be getting eithe true Axe II or Kemper. Aside of gear geeks, nobody has ever really been able to tell much difference in amps IMO. Even then I have seen quite a few amp to modeler test on here where people could not tell.

No. Just no. How can you sell THAT?!?

As cool as it is, it's just a possession. I don't know about this market but if the rarity and/or collectibility of it is still of value (I was offered a significant sum for it about 8 years ago), I'm going to jump on it because I need to start making music again.

Heck, I remember fooling the forum on HC 10 years ago with the bean shaped POD. The quality of modeling is ridiculous at this point.

It's time to take some good pics of the rig and see where it goes.

I say don't sell it unless you need the money
Get a Kemper or Axe or Torpedo if you need one, but keep the Shiva
