Should I?

For recording, if you already have THE amp and don't need a bunch of other amps and effects, a Torpedo seems a far better solution than the Axe FX or the Kemper. I've had the Live for a while for night playing, I'm now thinking about the new Reload and having IRs in the DAW. The big plus of the Reload is that it make reamping very easy with automatic levels. And knowing the Two Notes stuff, it will just work. This way you can keep your amp and record easily. Best of both worlds.

I say don't sell it unless you need the money
Get a Kemper or Axe or Torpedo if you need one, but keep the Shiva

I'm at a point that I'm no longer spending expendable income on gear (cut myself off some years back, actually), so to get the Axe-Fx I have to sell something. The Shiva-J is the logical choice since I've not been using it for quite some time.

I hear you and perhaps I should give something else a try, but I had an original Axe-FX and even it was a very nice device. The II was a significant improvement so I'm really leaning towards it. The Kemper has been suggested too and it's also nice but I'm still attracted to the Axe not only for the models but for the FX.

There you have it right there then. I think if you get the Axe it may see some action.

Only problem is then is you'll be looking around your music room for the next victim. Cause you're gonna want some CLR's and an MFC and some expression pedals and a board to put em on and....

Killer rig. Do what feels right. I've been thinking about the Axe because of the versatility it provides. I can get a lot of tones with my amp but at the end of the day, it's not a Bogner, Fender etc.

On a different note, that riff with the GT sounds like classic Aerosmith Rocks/DTL era stuff. Nice!

Personally...

I think the Axe-FX is more your style, although paisley never seems to go out of style...

How much for the cab? :D

Yeah, I'm already afraid of that. Plus I want another guitar, though I'll sell guitars to get more guitars.

Thanks bud. Rocks/Get Your Wings are some of my favorite albums ever.

How dare you, sir!

I'm only going to sell them as a set.

V30's in there?

Pete Anderson just did his latest album on an original POD. Ola did some Line 6 (HD500?) clips that easily hung with the Axe-Fx. Not sure you need to go all in on an Axe II to accomplish your goals.

As a former Axe Ultra owner, although the tone was all there, it didn't take long for me to miss the feel and response of my tube amps. If I were in your shoes, I'd see what kind of results I could get with a more affordable unit before cashing in your Shiva (love the paisley!) to fund a computer.

It you end up keeping the amp, you should rock one of these IMO...

I think you ought to check out the Kemper. It's effects are quite nice and you could just model that Shiva yourself…

I had bought a brand new Kemper in September of 2012, I found it to be a little buggy/quirky so I returned it.

Have they tightened things up on this unit since then?

for an axe-fx? no way....buy a Kemper, profile the Shiva and then sell the Shiva ;)

I haven't had the least bit of issue with mine…

I wasn't impressed at NAMM last year but there seem to be a lot of people who love it, including you. Need some time sitting down and listening to someone who has one take it through the paces. ;)

I don't trust myself to sell the Shiva once I've already got the modeler in my hands. :)

That's nice to hear... I upgraded firmware and all the patches starting sounding bad, went to the forum and saw lots of bugs threads and people with issues about this and that and just punted till it gets fully baked... I felt like I was buying a prototype instead of a finished product...

That paisley is not manly enough for you. Get rid of it ;)

To the contrary, you've got to be secure in your manhood to play a paisley Shiva.
