Should US should drill/refine more oil or less?

It seems there is (or certainly was) a push to scale back US oil production. But to me it seems if the goal is a cleaner planet the US should drill/refine more oil in the future. Who drills/refines cleaner than the US?

This planet will likely use oil for a very long time, the US can't really prevent that no matter how fast we transition away from it. Shouldn't we want the more enviro-friendly folks drilling/refining oil into the future?

The US and Europe is not the problem. It's asia. We will never transition away. Big oil is just to .....BIG. Also-the battery tech is not there yet for electric cars to be viable.

Not to mention electrical infastructures. I'm all for alternative energy but this cart is so far before the horse it is logistically comical to look at and is clearly a political play that is causing many problems.
