I've been an LP humbucker type of guy all my life but I can't decide whether to switch to singles or keep it hss. I'm borrowing a friend's tele right now with single neck and bridge and it sounds very fat. Maybe I'll just get a 3 single coil model and put very hot single pups in?

Find a good body and neck and go with HSS you get the best of both worlds!!

If the body is routed for a HB you can always switch if the single isnt working. hahah yeah i like it at times but my writing style just started moving away from that a bit. haha. I'm craving me some sharp, bright open chord woody sound. Keep in mind that, if you do decide to go with an HSS style guitar, you'll want to run a custom wiring setup so the singles see 250k and the humbucker sees 500k. I'm currently doing that with some resistors placed in clever areas. I also run a push/pull to split the humbucker and my custom no-load tone pots.

Teles always sound fatter than strats, imo, so don't judge your single coil experience with a tele.
I'd say get a tele and a strat
