What is your favorite pick to play with and why? I'm currently using a few different styles of Dunlop Jazz 3 picks for probably 10 years now. Being a metal player mostly, the small size of the Jazz 3 and sharp tip allows me to pick fast, accurate and gives me much better control over standard size picks.

Here are some of my other picks I keep around just incase I want to try something different on the fly.

Eric Johnson Jazz III.
Roughed up texture and tall raised lettering. Perfect for me! Easier to bash with, but the speed and accuracy of the original. Nice sharp tone too.

for pretty much everything, feels like home, has the best tone out of the various picks i've tried, wish they'd last a bit longer before the tip dulls/blunts, i keep trying other picks but just been using the delrins for the last 4-5 years now

i quite like the ultex 1.14 standard too but a bit too bright for my tastes, the jazz IIIs are pretty cool just a bit small for me i'll be trying the delrin500 1.14mm soon to test out

I like these. Like the texture of them, like the attack they get.

This one for metal.....Cactus Picks in any weight for everything else. I dig the chunk that the acrylics have for metal, the heavier the better. This one is 6mm.

Jazz III XL's ! the original Jazz IIIs seem to get lost in my fingers..lol.. just a bit too small for me. Also very heavy handed and play hard

I switch regularly between these

Red Jazz III
Gravity
Pick Boy (a hair bigger and rounder than a Jazz III, my fav overall)
Tortex purple
Ultex Jazz III
Ultex Sharp
Dunlop 205 Jazz (super thick and smooth attack-good for sweeping:)

It's amazing how much of a difference the different material can make in sound and feel/attack. I keep em all handy because sometimes just grabbing a different pick can inspire a whole new vibe.

I agree, I think the ultex sounds better than the red jazz 3...the red jazz 3 are a faster coming off the strings tho cause they are smoother. Wish they made the ultex jazz 3 smooth like the red jazz 3, that would be my ideal pick.

Have been using Cool Picks 1.5 heavy's for a few years and I find myself going back to the Ultex more and more. Also cheap ass fender heavy's as they have a certain snap I can get from them that I can't from the Cool Picks.

I switch back and forth between the red/black/carbon Jazz IIIs and the red/black Jazz III XLs. I tend to prefer the XLs for gigging because I can hold on to it better when I'm really digging-in.

I've been playing Jazz IIIs for almost a decade and pretty much HATE playing anything else. In fact, once the sharp point on my Jazz IIIs starts getting rounded-off at all, it goes in the "firestarter" pile (they make GREAT firestarters for camping) or given to one of my kids who are less PICKY (pun intended) about their picks. ;)

+1  The attack is great with these picks!! My fav so far, but I have been using Dunlop for a very long time.

Somehow I had one of these picks in my box of crap for about 15 years. It was used and I don't know how it ended up in my possession but over the years, even after moving to 3 different states I would see it when I was cleaning up my shit. Never played with it, but always noticed it hanging around.  Then about a year ago I picked it up and played my guitar with it and it just felt great. It's pretty big too.
