Fender Heavy's since about 84? Why? because they work well for me ;) I also sometimes use he Dunlop 1.5mm jobby

I use the see-thru yellow Dunlop gels, extra heavy. Probably for the last 15 years or so... I tried them on a whim, liked them and now nothing else feels quite right.

I've wanted to try these for a while, but I'm afraid I will like them......aren't they around $20 a piece? $15?

stainless steel picks are my favorite. Used to use copper 'hotlicks' picks but got a good deal on a bag of stainless. ;)

I like these. Like the texture of them, like the attack they get.
You and me, baby!! These have been my latest greatests... I love 'em. Also diggin' the 1mm and 1.14mm version of these.

Yeah, I used the 1mm-heavier Ultex, which are really cool, but I have found that the .73 are Just Right for me. They are a harder material than the Toltex, and the .73 have just the right amount of give for getting the snap I like.

Here are mine....custom clayton "delrin" .80 mm I believe. Love em.

Love the Dava picks lately and in jazz size too . Great grip and string articulation . Smooth , fast and a decent chunk for the chugga chugga . The real hard pickers might not like it since it has a lil flex .

Also the Big Stbby 2 mil and the XL black Jazz , then the ole' reliable Cool med black and white thet never wears out no matter how much shred/drilling you dish out .

I switch regularly between these

Red Jazz III
Gravity
Pick Boy (a hair bigger and rounder than a Jazz III, my fav overall)
Tortex purple
Ultex Jazz III
Ultex Sharp
Dunlop 205 Jazz (super thick and smooth attack-good for sweeping:)

It's amazing how much of a difference the different material can make in sound and feel/attack. I keep em all handy because sometimes just grabbing a different pick can inspire a whole new vibe.

Funny thing is that I haven't used Jazz III's until recently. I've always held a regular pick as though it were the size of a Jazz III and it never thought of switching. One day at work, I picked up the III and it's like something perfect came together for me and I was so much faster and articulate in my phrasing.

A guy let me use a Pick Boy pick and I fell in love. I can't find them anywhere; where do you get yours?

Ernie Ball Heavy Everlast picks. Feel great and don't get a beveled edge.

Somehow I had one of these picks in my box of crap for about 15 years. It was used and I don't know how it ended up in my possession but over the years, even after moving to 3 different states I would see it when I was cleaning up my shit. Never played with it, but always noticed it hanging around.  Then about a year ago I picked it up and played my guitar with it and it just felt great. It's pretty big too.

+1. I use that same pick. Or the yellow Ultem ones. I can't play worth a shit with regular picks.......I need the large triangles.

Heavies all the way!

I used to use 1.14 Tortex in my early days. Then I did 2.0 Derlin and Gator Grips for a while. But then went with Ultex 1.14 to get more pick attack back in my sound. Ultex is a great material that lasts, and has great feel on the strings but isn't as scratchy sounding as Tortex.

I really like the ultex jazz iii and the EJ jazz iii.

But id love to try those tortex jazz 1.14, didnt know they made those.

Tortex Jazz III are my favorites.
I got stung buying multipacks a couple times now where I thought they were Jazz IIIs but they were actually Jazz IIs.
But I also like the big triangle picks, not too big a fan of the ultex ones though and the stainless steel picks have a different sound entirely but it feels as though you are fighting the strings alot more.

Dunlop Jazz III Tortex, 1.14mm. ive never found a pick that sounds like Tortex, and after trying the Jazz shape i was hooked. i cannot play with normal sized picks now...just too unwieldy!

i looked and saw that they made the Jazz III in carbon fiber now...i might try them. i like a certain attack that only Tortex has delivered, maybe CF can deliver that too, along with the right amount of stiffness. 10 bucks for a 24 pack on MusiciansFriend...maybe ill go for it! i still have a ton of Tortex around though!

Yup, I seem to have a slightly difficult time with regular sized picks. They don't last very long before they start rounding off, but it is kind of like getting 3 picks in each one.

Not a whole lot of love for the Gator Grips huh? I use 1.14mm Dunlop Gator grips. I like the texture and the slightly smaller size...
