When I was an ESP and Ibanez dealer in 2000, I went through every 7 string we had in stock. This ESP/LTD H-207 sounded the best by far so I snagged it. I have barely played it at all but kept it because it sounds so good. Recently, I wrote some new material for my band and we are going to use the sevens with that material. I put a SD '59 in the neck a long time ago but kept the DD bridge humbucker because it really sounds great. However, I just bought a SD Distortion for the bridge which will be here tomorrow.

I really like the Ash body and the neck is really comfortable. I would highly recommend getting one of these. They don't make them anymore but they pop up on ebay pretty frequently.

I gotta be honest,some of the LTD's sound way better than the ESP's,and i'm not sure why?

It all hinges around the tonal qualities of the particular piece of wood used.

If there is a difference, I can't find it. They both spec out the same, except for the neck constructon.

I went through some of the higher priced guitars, plugged them all in, and played them for a while. This one sounded as good if not better than all of them even with the Duncan Designed pickups. I could have gotten an expensive one since I had my dealer discount, but went with my ears instead and I am glad I did.

The neck on the RG1527 is about 2mm wider at the 24th fret. It has an Edge Pro trem while the RG7620 uses the Lo Pro Edge trem. Both trems are excellent. Both have basswood bodies. That particular 1527 neck has a skunk stripe (bubinga) on the back while the 7620 doesn't. The newer 1527s have 5 pc necks (maple/bubinga/wenge/bubinga/maple).

Used the 7620 sells for about $350-400 (stopped production in '99) on ebay while the 1527 is about $550-700 (This is the last year of the RG1527 as it is now - next year it will have a different trem).

If you don't need a neck pickup, these are killer!

I use 9s with a 56 for the low B, tune to B flat, 7s have always felt natural to me...
But I am REALLY picky about neck shapes because my hand will go numb on many necks (the Ibanez and Petrucci)

The Natural I stripped (it was Camo)... I think the market is 600-ish used
The workmanship on all 4 I have owned (I only have the Natural and a different black one now) has been really good, only complaint was a couple of the nuts were filed a bit sloppy. The fretwork on all was great, and all of them played perfect

They are discontinued, though last I checked Fender had a few Silverburst left
