I like everything about the Carvins except the neck profile. I really dig the big chunky necks you can order on Anderson's and Suhrs. G&Ls are okay but I've had QC issues with them in the past.

I know what you mean about the carvin necks, I don't like them on the modern carvins. I like thin necks, but the carvin necks are too wide for my tastes. Now an 80s Carvin I played had a great neck.

I am not in love with G&L necks either, but they are okay, just different in feel than Fenders which I am used to.

you can build a warmoth for that and get just what you want . I built one and I had a suhr standard at the time . I sold the suhr because the warmoth was everything the suhr was at 1/3 the price

Always wanted to build a Warmoth but it's getting more and more expensive now...

These, unless you want a Floyd.

i'm specifically looking for 700-1,000 dollar alternatives for super strats,24 frets, good pups/fret wire and trems
any ideas besides ibanez etc?
thanks!

You can pick up a used ESP MII in great condition for about that range. Super strat that plays really great. Assuming you don't need a fancy top.
Just an fyi, Guitar center boston ma has a brand new(old stock) ESP MII on clearance for $1000(marked down from $2k) if thats what you're looking for. Just call and ask for Jeff Peck, tell him Roger said you have an esp mII on clearance!

I built a warmoth about 6 months ago. It quickly became my #1 live guitar. If you stick with traditional woods and order from the showcase you can easily build one for under a grand...

If you look, you can get a BC Rich USA Gunslinger for just over the $1k mark.
I think you can get a GMW for $1k without fancy paint.

This. /thread

I cant remember which model, maybe the c66? Looks like a dang anderson. And they have nice looking tops

Good call IMO.

Carvin also uses the same high end Jescar fretwire in Nickel or Stainless as these others.

Bolt , Boltplus, C 66 have very tight neck pockets, very precision fretwork.

All 25.5" scale premium Bolt Ons.

You can get Mahogany , Limba , Koa bodies etc.

Very good intonation, sustain and audible string resonance etc. Angled headstock, no silly string trees (save wood for the Builder, but not good for the Player for Tones and Tuning IMO).

Very good instruments for the money, tweak with pickup changes if you must for exact Fender Tones.

Workmanship clearly above most Fenders regarding fretwork, neck pocket, alignment of strings on the fingerboard
