After using a cheap 1/8th to dual rca output from the pc (and my old Mac Pro too) to supply signal to my studio monitor's subwoofer, then a cheap dual rca to dual rca to supply signal to both monitors and having horrible static/buzz/fuzz/noise, especially on light colored screens, I FINALLY decided to get an interface, to also fix the crappy latency through my Katana I couldn't dial out. I got a used Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen from Guitar Center and some balanced 1/4 to xlr cables to go straight to the monitors today. After getting it home and realizing the jackass that sold it to them supplied a usb-c to usb-c cable, which is the wrong one, and not having any luck with this usb-a to usb-c cable I had lying around that supplies power to an led table lamp, I went to WalMart and got a new cable.

NOW the software will recognize the interface and allow me to adjust settings. It also auto set it up so the interface sends signal to the monitors so I didn't have to adjust anything to have regular audio output through the monitors, AND I GOT RID OF THAT BUZZING! Now I finally have silence and can sit here at the screen and type this up, or just jam over my metronome or whatever and no more horrendous buzzing. At this point, it's worth the price of admission to just not have the buzzing. I haven't even tested yet to see if I can get rid of the latency and actually have pretty much real time playing from the Katana through the interface and out of the monitors, in case I record a little backing track and want to record a solo over it or something.

Congrats, it’s amazing what can be done with even the entry level interfaces these days.
