Was going through the good stuff. I haven't had this 1980 Silverburst out of the case in a couple years. It really yellowed out nicely during its hiatus. I think it needs some play time.

Nice! You got a beauty there.
Silverburst is my favorite "burst" finish for sure on LPs.

I wish I had thought to take some dated photo's along the way to show the progression of the change in color. The headstock inlay and binding have went almost copper. The rest of it is about the color of stuff I used to clean out of my son's diaper. It had some pots getting scratchy and a switch getting loose and I bought an RS or WCR prewired electronics set for it. That was 2 years ago. Just now getting around to it. Fucking off takes time, you know......

Aged like a fine wine. That's a fiddle with some character

Those aren't good for metal... I have an 81 tobacco burst I will trade ya!

Or just hang on to it for a while Steve. I can already see a chunk coming out of my next bonus! I still have not gotten a custom yet. That last one that arrived with the snapped neck made me sad. Such a perfect guitar.

That 81, whatever pup you put in the neck, it is the perfect kinda ratty good old dirty girl LP pup. I can see those going into some other guitars I have in the neck slot. That thing is money!

Im in the market for one of those as we speak. Had a chance to buy an '81 about a year ago for $1300 but I didn't have the funds at the time and the seller needed to move it that day. Beatiful guitars

The finish is clearly gone on that silverburst, time to sell it....... to me. :) :)

I wonder if the new silverbursts will age like these old ones will in color.

Well, they say it is the lead based auto paint that they used during the 79-82 period on these guitars that oxidizes and turns. The EPA fixed Gibson's use of lead based paints back when. So, I don't think the new ones will turn. Then again, this one's been cooking for 33 years.

Glad you like it. I can send a guitar packed well from the Middle East and arrive alive. Sam Ash can't ship across states lines without wrecking a guitar.

Those are either MCP Detroiters or the update version of them, the Nastees. I believe it is that later. They are a calibrated set. I have two more new sets (Wade sent me 3 sets), if you are interested in them. I just had him cover the neck PU and leave the bridge exposed.

Enjoy the Bacca Burst.

I dare anyone to find an uglier LP :

No, its not painted by some dirty hippy during an acid flashback, its a production model "Zoot Suit" Gibson. Or it can double as the Richard Simmons sig. model.

^ ugh, I just got sick to my stomach after looking at that... :(

Aren't each color a laminated layer? I heard they are heavy as hell...and ugly.
