Simple but good multi effect, rack or floor standalone

I have an Ifex and a Major II.
The Major has some nice features (harmonizer, tuner, switching relays and built in power supply), but tonewise the Ifex sounds IMO "better" - esp. when run in series with its source (say a loop).
Ifex colors the tone of the amp less, delays and verbs are fine for me.

I will continue to use both (Ifex for heads, Major with a mixer run in parallel with preamps/poweramp).

I should add that I also have a GSP1101.

FX wise (coloring the sound) I def. pref Ifex > Major II > GSP.

GSP is nice for modelling or when run in 4CM with a head/preamp - it is more like an AxeFX for the poor.

well put!

my friend bought a gmajor v1 because he wanted to get some of the sounds i got with my gforce in a series rig similar to mine at the time. side by side it was just sad. my g force had so much more headroom and the overall sound was so much better he took the major back that day. now i heard they did some upgrades to gmajor v2 so havent heard that one but stay away from v1 unless like dr duenstribe suggests you intend to run it in a w/d (w) rig in a mixer ect...

G-System Limited or newer,4 cable method is outstanding and built to last.

Not a fan of the TC Nova System, G-System and G-Major, having owned the 3 of those
Rocktron Intellifex is good, dirt cheap and easy to find
For 1200$ you could get a used Eventide Eclipse

The Eventide Eclipse vids are all of over the top shit. Inverted nipple chorused reverse orgasm delay and crazy shit like that.

I see some Lexicon units as well in that 1000-1500 range. I will be doing a bunch of YT vid listening.

Yeah, it's too bad when the demos show what the unit can do, but not basic sounds it should excel at

Some old Lexicon PCM are really well liked, especially for the reverb
70 is the classic one, then 80, 81 and 91 are more modern and still well liked; for some reason I read that the 90 should be avoided

If loop isnt a must the Zoom G5 is excellent and a lot cheaper. Even has great wah built in. It kicks ass on my analog pedalboard
