I just want a simple controller to switch between the 8 channels in the m4, with maybe an extra switch to control the soundsculpture ABCadabra so that I can easily switch between the m4 and the mod50 preamp section. This is for practice/writing, so I'm not yet wiring it all up as a big rig, but I like to have it all at my disposable when writing with bandmates or just playing for myself.

Thinking maybe behringer FBC1010 or roland FC300?

there are alot of them on ebay. I use to use an ART X-15 worked great for me. It also has a jack out for an on/off switch mute switch for a tuner or what ever you find you need an extra switch for. It has 2 midi expression pedals in case you need that for later. I took the exp pedals off and mounted my 535q wah pedal and drilled a few holes for my mesa Mk III foot switches and made a snake. then that was 3 yrs ago and my rig has changed alot since then.

Tech 21 Midi Moose works like a champ and is really inexpensive. Works off MIDI phantom power and is all metal

Get a Liquid Foot JR when it comes out (soon). Read this...

(final product looks a bit different with an extra button up top)

Yes- there is 1 button (MENU) on the top right. that leaves 4 presets and 4 IA's in normal mode--- or 3 presets and 3 IAs in (dedicated UP/DOWN) mode, in which the Top Left acts as dedicated UP and bottom left acts as dedicated DOWN button.

I have been using it in normal mode--- just press MENU once and then the two left switches act like UP/DOWN temporarily. Not a big deal when switching songs, setlists, presets, etc...
of course. Full mode listing:

1. Normal (4 of each of Preset and IA)
2. UP/Down (3 of each + UP and DOWN)
3. 8 IA mode - all are IA functions
4. 8 Preset mode - all are preset functions

the RJM Mastermind is about as simple as you can get

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys, it seems like the new Liquid Foot Jr. is exactly what I am looking for! Ability to have it really simple and just switch the 8 channels of the m4, but also then use it in a more complicated way too...and I like the small footprint. Thanks so much for the heads up, I would have never have heard of it otherwise!
