I also believe that the people who have an original 2C+ may be in fear that this internet "holy grail" amp maybe in jeopardy of no longer being the mythical creature that people are claiming it to be. Due in part that they're not readily available like the JP-2C will be in a few weeks.

With today's amps , I find it super hard to believe that you couldn't achieve the same tone & feel with another tube amp that's out there.

Again... my 1.5 cents worth of an opinion...

I see a lot of guys saying "I doubt they'll get it close to an original 2C+ , and nothing will be as good." , etc....

Can someone please post a link of that particular amp sounding "amazing" or "killer" whether it be on youtube or soundcloud?

I'd like to think because I'm not that old , that I still have good hearing. I'd also like to think I have a very small grasp on what sounds "good".

It's just that I'm having a pretty hard time wrapping my head around the HUGE debate about the new Mesa JP-2C and an original 2C+.

I personally haven't come across a youtube clip where I think the original sounds good at all. :dunno:

And, Yes...I have Master Of Puppets.... ;)

This is a 60 watt IIC+ I used to own. It's just my crappy setup I had with an audio buddy mic-pre into Sonar. SM57 Mic on an old Metal Grill Mesa with MC90 speaker. Not the best audio quality but it is what it is.

Cool! Thank you! Nice playing for sure! Now, if you told me this was a JSX or something in that vain , I'd believe you. Not necessarily because of the tone per say, but because of the style of playing and delay on the track. I've seen Satch a bunch of times & his tone in a live setting sounds similar.

Bad example here because he's using his Marshalls..but I wanted to show you where I was getting the comparison...

Every youtube clip of a 2C+ I've pulled up sounds below sub par.

Here's Ola. Of course his production is great. I think what's impressive is the IIC+ came out in 1984 way before any of the modern metal amps and it can as modern as anything, or dialed in for a more vintage tone.

And if you think I sound like a Satch tone I can only take that as a compliment.

I haves owned all the mark series and personally prefer the 4

I had a Mark IV and my old IIC+ and I dialed them in pretty close. Not exact, but pretty dam close. The fact that the IV has independant high gain and clean plus the ability to switch the effects loop in and out are a definite advantage.

Well, I have original IIC+'s and I'm equally looking forward to the JP-2C. I guess I'm the odd man out around these parts.

I only have one lowly 60W IIC+ (Lol), but I'm also very excited about this amp.

Crappy Ibanez 3120?? I sold you that guitar and it was a great guitar for the price, better than the shit people here pay $2500+ for   ;)

You, Gainfreak, PsychoDave are the ones I would listen to if I wanted the scoop on this new pixie dust JP-2C amp. I remember having Ralph's 2C+ against a MKIV and once dialed in it was a stretch to figure out what was what. The only amp that we could figure out was the Coli due to it's more aggressive gain.

Hope all is well with you and your family Jonas boy, miss hanging with you and watching you tear it up. I was just in Bedminster last week for meetings.

Thanks, man...

Oh, the guitar was an SG Standard with 57 Classic Plus.

I sold mine a while back. It was cool but many great amps have happened since then. I don't miss it or have that tone stuck in my head. Very hard to dial in and balance channels. I would love to check out the new one though

you're not alone. i am with you as are a few others. both my originals are ++ modded.

of course the JP won't be the same but i think it will be miles closer than the MkV. the modern features will be a good selling point.

sometimes, there just isn't enough sand to fill the vaginas when it comes to the IIC+ and its awesomeness.....

I've flipped gear as much as anyone, but the 2C+ is staying....
