Single Guitarist... Wanting to thicken up my tone a bit live

So I recently put together a new band with a few friends and we haven't been able to find a 2nd guitarist we jive with so for the time being it's just me.

Because of that, I personally feel that the guitar tone feels a little lacking and I am looking to thicken it up.

The best example of what I am trying to achieve is probably the tone that DL from The Acacia Strain has on their live video Live at the Waterfront from back in the day. In this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXJDePyysBM right around 15:05 in the video he does a little chug riff with a quick bend between songs while Vincent is talking, and you can hear it sounds like he has some sort of Delay on his tone. I reached out to him via FB and Email but he's apparently not interested in sharing which is fine, I am sure he spent a lot of time crafting his tone. I have an old DD3 Boss Delay that I tried to get a little slap-back feel with to maybe help out, but it just doesn't seem to be doing it for me.

Anyone have any suggestions to help out here? Maybe a Carbon Copy? Maybe it's something else completely? I am not trying to spent a ton of money, just trying to keep things simple overall.

i think it would be first in the chain. theres a switch for 1,2 or 3 overdubs. i use it with two amps in stereo, its like having another guitar player. heres a clip i made with two amps, you can hear when i kick it on at :11 seconds.

To me that just sounds like a very short delay (without feedback), just long enough to be heard as a separate sound instead of being a true ADT/thickener, chorus or flanger, but not so long that it really feels like an echo. It´s very loud in the mix, though, and stuff like this always sounds better after the distortion/amp and in stereo. Could be some slight pitch shift or modulation on it too, just detuning one side a few cents can sound huge.

This. A stereo rig is a huge monster, but can still be tight if you want. Im about to post up about my ghetto pedalboard rig soon as i wire it back up.

What amp are you using? I used to preamp my evh into a small power amp into one cab, and my evh ran the other. Several ways to do stereo without having two heads necessarily.

Came in to say stereo amps with the mimiq, as that is by far the biggest I've ever heard a single take of guitar sound. The mimiq into one amp can sound OK, but with the setting too tight it mushes the attack and with it too loose it just sounds like sloppy playing. Through two amps is where it shines, as it really does begin to sound like two separate takes of guitar. YMMV, and maybe you'll find a setting that works well with a single amp.

What are you guys doing about channel switching and effects in the loop? or are you basically going wet/dry with this thing?

Or I am possibly way off on how this works.

The two amps I use it with have the same switching mechanism, so I just need a splitting stereo cable to have one switch control both. Or I don't switch at all and just use the guitar volume and switching to control tone changes.

Buy an MXR 10-band. Easy fix.

Slap it in the loop, bump the low mids.

Get your bassist some type of overdrive pedal (RAT, OCD, Darkglass, Muff, whatever). He can step on and off it when it makes sense to give a wall of sound behind the guitars. Probably a lot easier than trying to run a stereo rig, which IME is a real pain.

Try a Rockman Stereo Chorus. Set the speed low, for a detuned effect. The "long" setting adds a slight amount of delay. It is 100% analog, so there's no latency, or weird digital peaks. Except for maybe the Roland tape echo w/chorus, and the BOSS CE-1 pedal, there's nothing better out there. For best results, run the Rockman chorus in stereo. Think Brian May...

I would bring a second cab and head live, different style then my main and use a doubler as said or delay to delay that new amp setup 15-25ms but that is not cheap or simple. ?

I've been thinking about this as well as I'm the lone slinger in our band. I like to keep things simple, so was looking at a second delay pedal or chorus on all the time at low settings.

For those that have used delay or chorus to achieve this, can you share your pedals and settings?
