It just rocks!!!! Surprised it's not mentioned more often as a reference.

I presently own one of Jason Bieler's(Saigon Kick) old Rivera TBR 1 SLs. Great amp. I believe that back when Saigon Kick toured with Skid Row the Skids liked Jason's tone so much that they picked up some M100s and recorded/toured with them. My drummer has a TBR 1M and I was trying to dial it in like the "Lizard" tone but couldn't get there. I found out about Jason's website and emailed him about his amp. He got back to me right away and was very helpful..even though he couldn't actually remember how he set it up..he's using an AXE II now. I asked him if he ever wanted to sell one of his 1 SLs and the rest is history. Its a really great amp, switchable loop, AMAZING clean and tone shaping that's just crazy. And you can run ANY type of octal tube in it with a re-bias..it also has a feature that lets you turn the amp on without having a speaker jack plugged in. Mine is 2x60w stereo, there's a 120 per side out there too..It's a rack BEAST though..prob 80 lbs. If the M100 sounds close to this amp, people need to try them out..they're pretty cheap on GC.com..

Monkey Business is one of my all time favorite tones :worship: :worship:

Love SKID ROW!!!

But you know there are ton mics and post processing that get that tone in addition the usual contenders.

The tones were just as good, if not better, live. I remember seeing them when they first arrived on the scene and the guitar tones really stood out,

Cool story! Bieler's tone on The Lizard and Sykes Whitesnake 87 tone are my benchmark hard rock tones. They both still make the hairs on my arms stand when I hear them
I swear I read once that Jason boosted the Rivera with an SD-1 for The Lizard but I could be wrong.

Yup he did..he confirmed that with me in an email. I have one..was ok with the SD but when I put a boss GE 7 in front, mid boost, that was the tone I liked best. It really has a ton of features..lots of tone shaping ability. Set the Loop level up and there's your solo boost. Clean channel is perfect, and the reverb stellar. Signed to Jason from Paul Rivera inside..if it weighed a little less...lol..

I owned a TBR SL1 and it was a tone machine. Miss that amp!

Agreed that record slays. It's been in regular rotation on CD and now ipod since it came out for me.

I'm jealous. Jason's tone off of The Lizard is one of the tones that got me into guitar, along with Nuno's on 3 Sides.

They come up from time to time on ebay...last TBR 1SL I saw the guy was asking 1200 for it. I did see an M100 on GC.com for 649.00...supposedly the M100 has the most popular TBR mid selection built into the circuit, so it should come close to the TBR tone.

Great song, incredible tone. I thought an ADA was used by one of those guys at around that time.

I think an MP1 was used for the first Skid album, then they moved to Rivera for Monkey Business..

I have an M100 and it has the PULL notch on the mids in spades and the focus pot which I think is essential for Slave to the Grind. I use my SRB808 in SD1 mode as that smooths out the ragged grindy Rivera crunch that you hear on the album that makes it sooooo killer IMHO! I love the amp it has the tone without studio magic. I read they used Michael Wagner's S120 which is basically a stereo version of the M100 and TBR's.

FWIW they used M100's and Rivera cabs(not sure what speaker) for the STTG tour and their tone live was awesome as well as evident by the Youtube vids.

I also have a Rivera KTRE with a SRB808 out front that gets close to the tone, it doesn't have the exact mids but it has a ton more low end which is nice. Rivera was one amp I kept passing on trying for years and when I finally did I really dug them and I'm a die hard Marshall aficionado.
