not sure I follow this logic. That's like test driving three cars, but not going over 25 MPH...

Each amp is totally different; if I were testing them out, I'd dial them in each differently for sure. Wouldn't you?

It's like driving 3 cars on the exact same track. I wouldnt want to try 3 race cars on totally different turns, conditions , etc

When it comes to amp demos I'd rather hear everything at noon because what's good to one persons ear might not be good for the other.

I say go for a Blue Voodoo, Madison Divinity or Bugera :poke:

Settings were

Marsha- BE Ch, gain max, all eq 12:00
SLO- OD Ch, gain 12:00, all eq 12:00
XTC 100b- Blue Ch, gain max, eq 12:00, pressence 1:30
All through EVH GB cab, Sennheisser 906 mic.

sorry I even questioned your professionalism  This is how it is done. Great comparison. Im going to re visit with different speakers for a second listen this evening.

Thanks again for this :rawk:

I actually find most quality amps sound good at 12:00, ganted the XTC needs more top end on the dials though. I like the XTC with V30s' but for this test it was GBs' all round. Oh well can't please everyone. :(

I played/borrowed the 20th XTC for a week from a friend for fun. It's a killer amp too. Sounds amazing!!!And before someone gives me crap about the EQ settings, 1) try it yourself and 2) it was for metal fun.

I dont think Bronco meant it as an insult. He's a really good guy (and hopefully we'll have a little alexandria ampfest one of these busy days) Im guessing he just prefers demo's where ppl dial in the optimal tone to their ears. I, on the other hand, prefer dials at noon so I can hear the basic amp characteristics first and foremost.

different strokes. Regardless, you did a kick ass demo SS. So thanks for that! Sounded great thru different monitors too.

Glad you gave the xtc a crack Jim. Love your posts on TGP too. Unfortunately you are one of the few I still 'absorb' over there lately. So Im glad you post here too. I would think you would LOVE the blue channel on the xtc.
