I had posted a thread about this topic in early July, but is not showing up anymore, may have gotten lost during the change over.

Anyway, I'm looking for the schematic and parts list required to install this mod. Also, doe a re-bias have to be performed or are the power tubes not affected?

Thanks
-Mike

Can't answer any of your questions, but I just got a Decatone, which has the depth mod stock, and it really makes a difference. I haven't jammed with the amp yet, but at bedroom volumes, the depth contol really sweetens the tone. I run it around 6-7. I think the amp would sound pretty thin without it.

see schems/layouts (stickies)

You need a 1M lin pot, another 100nF cap and a 4n7 cap. Let me know if you need help with the wiring.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in looking at the schematic I would insert the mod on the wire going to the ohm switch? If so does it require a rebias?

No rebias necessary.

Instructions:

1. unsolder the wire from the impedance switch
2. install pot (viewed from its back you'll see legs 1, 2, 3)
3. solder a 100nF to leg 1
4. solder a 2n2 to 4n7 between 1 and 2
5. solder the wire which was on the inpedance switch to the 100nF, which is hooked to leg 1
6. solder a new wire from leg 2 to the position, where the original wire was located on th impedance switch.

There are several different design caps out there, any particular type I should get. I know I need one in the 630V range.

Well it's done. I just went ahead and removed the slave out, it was just a one solder connection at the middle ohm switch connection. The slave out pot and jack are hard wired together so I took them out in one assembly, would be very simple to add back if I wanted or needed it.

I agree, this is a must have on the SLO. For anybody who has ever thought "I wish the bass knob would add just a little more bass to the amp", this is it. Changes the character of the amp in a good way. Turned down all the way it sounds stock, but turn it up and this whole new low end sonic territory comes into play.

Does it sound like my early 2 channel Recto or RoadKing? NO, but it falls in between them and a stock SLO. IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE A SLO, but with a warmer, fuller tone down in the low end. Still as tight sounding as before, just bigger. It adds enough to the bottom end at 2/3rds the way on that I had to add presence and treble back in. I normally ran my presence and treble between 3 or 4, now they are both at 5. My bass was always set on 11, now it backed down to 8. My mid stayed at 3. Just plain awesome sounding.

If anybody wants to do this mod, here's the parts I used. I got them from http://www.torresengineering.com/topqualcapre.html

.005uf 600v orange drop cap $.75
.1uf 600v orange drop cap $1.59
1 meg linear taper mini solid shaft pot $2.75

Took all of about 30 minutes to install.

I'm picking up my 2203 from Soldano today. It got modded for more gain and I had them add the depth mod as well for low volume recording. I tried the amp with just the added gain (before depth mod) and it sounded fucking great. At volume I wouldn't need the depth mod but for the low volume home recording situation I think it will come in handy. Plus it might be cool for some real fat, Sabbath like tones. I think it would be overkill for a regular loud rock/metal application. But it could also be cool for compensating for a heavily treated rehearsal room.

I had talked to Mike Soldano years ago about putting a depth mod on my Tremoverb, I wonder if he has any other tricks for it. Seeing this just has me thinking.
